How accessible is your website for visually impaired people?
Here is some stuff to think about when you are creating your website.
What does a visual impaired person see?
How is the contrast?
What does a blind person see?
What experience has a visual impaired person?
Learn about colors for color-impaired readers
How many visually impaired people are there globally?
There are 253 million visually impaired people, globally, of whom 36 million are blind. A rapidly ageing population means that the impact of vision loss is expected to rise. This is a really big group of potential visitors/buyers, to whom you should pay attention to while developing your website.
Visually impaired people have the habit to screen the subtitles in H3. They are often reliant on buying online, and is definitely a group to be reckoned with.
So my advice for headings is
H1 for the title
H2 for the keyword phrase if where applicable
H3 for subheadings (for the screening)

Excellent post - thank you Loes! I have just designed my logo, but because of this info, I think I am going to rework it's red. I definitely don't want to exclude our red/green impaired friends.
Also a good reminder of why image Alt-tags are important.
Queen Loes!!
Love where you are going here. There are a few WP plugins to read text and provide accessibility to impaired users...
Properly labeled Alt-tags, bigger text option, alternate site etc are just a few other methods to help in this area.
There are software available for the blind to help them see what's on the page, there's braille to help visually impaired to read what's on a page, and for those who are losing their site to degenerative eyes diseases, there's adaptive equipment to see. There are agencies that serve the visually impaired that can tell you how to accommodate your website to serve the visually impaired
what staggering figures, only yesterday I was researching foods for eye health. Buyers I can understand, what can we do for visitors other than bold and bigger fonts?
It´s not the bold and bigger fonts, it´s about the contrast and adding alt descriptions to your website images, be sure everything is to read for a visual reader, so be aware of infographics etc.

Loes can you do a training on this subject? I am sure not many members has considered this subject.
Wow those are serious considerations. Perhaps an enhancement feature or plugin could be developed to address this. I had not thought of my website in this manner, but I will now.

Thank you, Loes:). I have several friends who are visually impaired, and I totally understand the need for this. This is a great reminder!
Blessings:)
Suzi
I also a friend too, and I sometimes, when I am with her, listen to what the program is telling her.
That is really dreadful
I agree with you. I feel for these people. I think many times, people with disabilities are left out, and that's not the way it should be:(. We need to view everyone as special, and accommodate for their needs:)
Blessings:)

We can, at least, think about it
Definitely:)
