Slowly but Steadily. wins the race.

When I started at WA, I was excited and fired up and couldn’t wait to start my journey and be a success.

I started the phenomenal training and am still busy with the training and enjoying it immensely, but in the beginning, I created a project plan for my business with tasks and timelines,. As I progressed over the first 2 months, I realised that my projections were completely wrong, because I was completely new to Affiliate Marketing and had very little idea or understanding of how long each task would realistically take and how Affiliate Marketing works. There is so much to learn.

I’m sure you have all heard the saying “slow but steady wins the race” and this basically means that consistent, effective effort leads to success. This is the moral of one of Aesop’s fables “The Tortoise and the Hare”

I then reviewed my base assumptions and decided that I am going to be "The Tortoise" and that “slowly but steadily” is the best course of action for me.

With this in mind, I have updated my business plan, and yes, I have a business plan, which includes a budget for potential expenses, as this is my future business, and I am committed to its success, and created a 3-phase plan.

The first phase, which is minimum of 6 months, will be learning everything I can at WA about, creating my website, writing content, which I have indicated that if I write 3 blog posts per week, and over the 6 months (26 weeks x 3) I should have around 78 blog posts on my website. Searching unique keywords, learning about WordPress and about plugins, working on building traffic to my site, which is something I really need to get very educated on. 😊 etc.

The second phase will then be about finding good affiliate programs that work with my website in terms of the content and what types of products I am going to promote, and then joining these affiliate programs.

The first two phase's timeline is about a year, but if you think about it, a doctor has to study for 7 years before they can start practicing as a doctor, a Lawyer has to study for 6/7 years before they can start practicing as a attorney, a CA has to study for 4 years plus, before they can start practicing as a Chartered Accountant, so 1 year to study to become a successful affiliate marketer is no time at all.

The third phase will be the ongoing phase of my business, where I will continue to bring the first two phases together, and constantly update and improve wherever I need to. I’m sure my plan will adjust as I learn new things every day here at WA and from the awesome WA community, so I have ensured that there is room for flexibility.

I plan to win my first race of many, and the end goal is to have my first successful online business. 😊

Ask yourself, What is the best course of action for you? The tortoise or the hare"?

See you at the goal posts. 😊

Wishing everyone great success in their online business journey.

And yes… I love emoji’s.. lol

Regards

Lindy

It is a good and sound plan, Lindy. I am the tortoise 😊 too. I tried to be the hare for the first 2 years, but since January I have consolidated my efforts, and am back on my original 5 years plan.

I got 3 years to go to get to my first "end goal". I will see you there 💪💯😊

Roy

Best wishes for our success in our individualise plans and race. I will be here, cheering you on. 😁

💯 and that goes back to you too, Lindy 😊

A good plan, only lasts until first contact with the enemy.

In my case it was similar to yours. Once I got stuck into the training (I was gung-ho at first), I realized I had a lot to learn and the plan I had needed to be revised.

WA gives us flexibility, we can fit it into our lives as we like. As many hours in a day that we can spare.

We do indeed set our own goals - always a good thing.

Definitely... the realization of how much there us to learn made me reset my plans too.. lol 😁

Well said Lindy! 😁

The training and what action needs to be taken in each lesson is very well laid out here at WA!

There is little point in rushing things and trying to reach the top too soon, do the training at your own pace and apply all that you have learned along the way..🐌

We all have plans when we start out, but an important lesson to learn is that even the best laid plans have room for adjustment and change as we advance with our learning and understanding of the business.😉

You are doing great my friend, keep up the fantastic work!🤗🙂🥰

I love the odd emoji or two as well!!🤣😅

Thanks Jessie Flexibility is important to all great plans 😁

It certainly is Lindy!🤗🙂

You are very wise to realize that you need to take whatever time you need to master lessons. I've seen far too many WA members race through the training, bragging about how fast they made it through all the lessons, only to realize at the end that they barely learned anything and their sites were not successful.

If I can make one suggestion, you don't need to wait until all your articles are in place before joining affiliate programs. You can actually start applying once you've got about a dozen posts.

Slow and steady is a great plan!

Thanks so much. I just noticed that a lot of the affiliate programs that one wants to apply to, seem to want your website to already have sufficient blogs and traffic, so I thought it best to initially focus on getting good content blogs and traffic before attempting the next step. :-)

It depends on who you apply to - which network, which merchant.

Speaking on behalf of Awin and ShareASale, we like to see 8-12 posts so we can get a good sense of what you are planning. We understand that it takes time to build your traffic numbers, so we'd rather work with you now, even while you're small, than wait.

So - make sure to check out our merchants to see who might be a fit!

Thanks so much. I will definitely do that. 👍😁

Great plan! I’ve seen myself shift from only working when I have enough time to finish writing a blog post to working a little bit on a blog post each day until I finish it.

I’m getting a lot more done with the second method because I don’t need large blocks of time. I’m finding I’m able to fit in 2 - 3 blog posts in week pretty easily.

That's a great idea 👍😁
