Juicing Health Fad? Or Health Rad?

Okay, so I have done the research! And really the only downside I have found to juicing is the lack of fiber and proteins you get from taking out the pulp....however you can put these back in by using the pulp for other things, like cooking soups or muffins. Or, put the pulp in your smoothie with some greek yogurt! Voila..protein, and calories added.

Juicing gives you 95% of the vitamins and enzymes our bodies need.

You would need to eat pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables, yes that's right POUNDS, to receive the same amount of nutrients you can receive from 16oz of juice. Juice is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, giving your digestive system a much needed rest!

BUT... going on ALL juice fast, can lower your energy levels, may give you headaches, may make you irritable, and the rise and fall of blood sugars can mess with you. Since, juicing can lack the fiber and proteins your body craves to feel full and curb irritability caused by hunger, I dont recommend more than 3 days of fasting, though some would argue with me on this point, DO YOUR RESEARCH! I can hardly go three hours without eating more or less 3 days, I just don't have the desire or discipline to starve myself that long. But, this may be easier for others!

LET YOUR BODY DO ITS JOB~BUT HELP IT ALONG

There are a number of ways to cleanse your body of harmful toxins. Why not let your body do its job and just substitute with the nutrient rich abilities that juicing provides, by replacing a meal or breakfast with a different juice daily. One that aids the liver, colon, and kidney's in producing a more toxin cleansing power!

Save the discipline for making an effort to limit the number of unhealthy activities you engage in, like eating processed foods, flour rich foods, sugars, limit your alcohol intake, quit smoking, and engage in more physical activities to stimulate sweating and blood flow (Another way to eliminate toxins). Let your lymphatic system help you rid the toxins. ALSO I cannot stress this fact enough:

DRINK PLENTY OF FILTERED WATER!!!

To help your body flush out unwanted toxins.

DO THE RESEARCH:

There is lots of research that shows the healing properties of juicing. Not only will juicing help you lose weight, you will experience an increase in energy levels, a stronger immune system, strong bones, and a glowing complexion. It reduces the chances for heart disease, cancer and stroke, the 3 leading causes of death. Vitamins alone are processed and not as nutrient rich as fresh, plant based fruits and vegetables.

FRESH JUICE VS. STORE BOUGHT

Fresh pressed juices are...for lack of a better word....FRESH! You will get all the live enzymes, and nutrients that pack power out of juicing.

Also, you can add a lot more variety for added benefits, and more vegetable and fruit per fluid oz. than buying a pre-packaged bottle. Store bought juice is pasteurized, which is the process of heating up the juice and processing it, which kills most of the vital vitamins and minerals. Fresh is always better!

Great blog, unfortunately I have to stay away from acidic foods as much as possible. Except for carrots of course. :)

Thanks for sharing. Admittedly, I don't know much about juicing.

Do some more research. I don't drink enough water in a day. I was drinking green smoothies every morning and I found out that you DO get lots of fiber with your smoothies. Unless juicing is different than smoothies, you get the fiber, the nutrients, minus the calories. I use the nutri-bullet. I hope this helps.
