The Right Questions Are The Key To Your Success

I could easily write 20 pages about the power of questions because they are just that POWERFUL!!

But I'm sure you don't want to read a small novel so here's my condensed post about the power of questions.

Questions determine every aspect of your life - from relationships to your abilities to your income.

And one of the reasons many people fail to achieve success in all of these areas is simple because they are asking themselves the wrong questions.

The most powerful tool you have in your arsenal to direct your success is by asking yourself better questions when you do have challenges.

However when someone hits a challenge unfortunately they ask themselves some pretty lousy questions.

And when you ask yourself lousy questions you're going to get lousy answers.

Your brain is a computer - garbage in garbage out. So when you ask a lousy question is it's going to come up with an answer even if it has to make something up.

So for example if you ask yourself a question like "Why can't I ever succeed"

Your answer may be - "because your stupid" or "you're not smart enough" or "because you don't deserve it"

These answers are not going to help you move forward and achieve your goals.

You have to remember ALL questions determine where you place your focus, how you think, how you feel and what you do.

So doesn't it make sense to start asking yourself better questions?

If you ask yourself better questions you're going to get better answers.

Just think of the power you could unleash if you started asking yourself better questions.

By asking powerful questions in the moment of a crisis or challenge is a skill you need to master - it took me a while to master it but now I constantly ask myself very powerful question anytime I have a challenge or crisis.

It has guided me through some very tough times and keeps me moving forward in the right direction.

Powerful questions can do so much for you (us) like I said asking powerful questions in an instant will change what we focus on, how we feel and what we we do.

So why not ask questions that move us in the direction we want.

One of my mentors and someone I have been very luck to meet is Anthony Robbins and in his book Awake The Giant Within he provides problem solving questions (page 193).

And these are the questions I ask myself every time I have a challenge.

These questions focus me and keep me moving in the direction I want. And remember asking better questions you get better answers

1) What is great about this problem?

2) What is not perfect yet?

3) What am I willing to do to make it the way I want?

4) What am I willing to no longer do in order to make it the way I want?

5) How can I enjoy the process while I do what's necessary to make it the way I want?

Not only do I use these questions from Tony - I also have created my own.

I also have a ritual of asking myself my morning power questions and evening power questions.

Again these are from Tony's book, I have replaced some with my own questions, but here are the ones from his book (page 195)

The reason for this is to use your power of focus (I did a post about that). What you focus on is what you get - and these questions keep me focused.

When you ask these questions make sure you come up with 2 or 3 answers to each.

So here they are:

Morning Power Questions

1) What am I happy about in my life now?

2) What am I excited about in my life right now?

3) What am I proud about in my life now?

4) What am I grateful about in my life now?

5) What am I enjoying the most in my life right now?

6) What am I committed to in my life right now?

7) Who do I love? And who loves me?

Before my feet hit the floor in the morning I ask myself these questions everyday.

And when I hit my bed at night I ask my evening power questions. I have added some of my own but again these are from Tony's book.

Evening Power Questions

1) What have I given today?

2) What did I learn today?

3) How has today added to the quality of my life?

4) Did I make a positive step towards my goals today? (this is one of my own questions)

I'll leave you with this:

Asking the right questions is the first step - but you have to move from asking questions and start acting on those questions - in other words you have to start doing.

You could be asking all the right questions but if you're not taking action - then the best questions in the world are not going to help you.

So what questions are you constantly asking yourself?

Are they questions that empower your life or dis-empower it?

I believe in you
