When I check out my google analytics I just want to cry

Each time I publish a new article I feel so excited.

I put so much work into every detail.

  • Keyword research.
  • Interview.
  • Transcription.
  • Editing.
  • Creating clickable images.
  • Creating more images to share on social media and then sharing like crazy.
  • Giving comments. Receiving comments. Replying to comments.

When I'm done I look at the finished product and I feel proud. A sense of a job well done.

And then I eagerly check out my google analytics and I just want to cry.

Because I'm not get any more traffic than I was a year ago on Inspiring Mompreneurs and although Happy Human Pacifier is on the upswing, stats are still dismally low.

On Inspiring Mompreneurs I've had 11,128 page views in a year (927 average a month, there was a big spike in July when I first joined flipboard) and in the last 3 months I've had only 2290 views (763 average a month).

On Happy Human Pacifier I've had 6,816 views in a year (570 average a month) and 1873 page views in the last 3 months (625 average).

And of course it's not just google analytics.

Lack of traffic also equals lack of revenue.

I just got kicked out of Amazon US and Canada AGAIN for not referring one sale.

I've been blogging (part time) for nearly a year and half and haven't managed to produce one Amazon sale. Is that normal, or super slow progress?

Why oh why oh why?

What am I doing wrong?

Is there something I'm missing?

Perhaps I should stop building one of my sites and focus on building just one until it starts generating some significant traffic and starts generating some revenue?

Am I being too impatient or am I making some cardinal mistake that's causing that's slowing my progress down?

If anyone has any advice for me, any pointers, I'd greatly appreciate your input...

Hi Lauren,

I found this post while looking for mummy bloggers to request a guest post.

My thoughts on the Human Pacifier website: I noticed you have so many info articles and couldn't find any product reviews. I noticed though that you had an "Amazon Store" (now empty). Unfortunately, Amazon stores do not convert well. I've tried it and failed woefully at it. It seems potential customers want to know why they should buy X and Y product and not just have a bunch of products presented for them to make their pick.

And for the record, I've been kicked out of Amazon at least twice (maybe thrice?). I only got my application approved this year when I changed my strategy: creating product reviews and backlinking. I'm learning white hat backlinking strategies from the Backlinko guru Brian Dean. So far so good.

All the best!

Hi Princila, thanks so much for all the info. Anke also suggested I write some product reviews. Makes sense. I guess I haven't really applied myself to Amazon and I can see now that adding links in articles is simply not enough. And ha ha, yes, have also been kicked twice or maybe thrice?
Still getting the basics right as well.
Will definitely look into your suggestions.
All the best
Lauren

Hi, Lauren regarding no sales with Amazon. I had a quick look at your two sites. Do you have any product reviews on it? I couldn't see any at first glance.
Product reviews convert quite well. The best way is to target buying keywords like the best breast pump, breast pump reviews etc. Write an in-depth review with benefits, features etc. for the products you want to promote and add a call to action e.g. please check the price here (link to Amazon)
I hope it helps!
Best, Anke

Thanks Anke. I haven't done any reviews yet. I'll start working on some.

What is the ranking of your posts? If you are not ranked well, there can be no traffic. Perhaps you aim to high regarding qsr. I keep it below 30 and half of my posts are ranked on the top page in Google. Next thing is: you need a lot of stuff in the site, hundreds of posts. This combined with good ranking will bring traffic. The process is slow, but it works. Speaking from my own experience.

I agree with Michael; focus on one site.

Thanks Jovo. Looking into ranking. If I'm reading my google analytics correctly average ranking is 25.

Standard advice is to concentrate on ONE site and put every traffic generating action to it. I hope from your statement also that you haven't been affected by the Wanna Cry virus Lauren!

Thanks Michael. Okay. Will do! No viruses (as far as I know). :)

Are you using Face book Groups, LinkedIn, Instagram?

Nope, not on Facebook. I am on Linkedin & Instagram. Also share on Google Plus, Pinterest & Pinterest group boards. Plus Flipboard, Stumbleupon & Scoop.it.

Face book groups work very well so I suggest you try

Thanks Paul. Trying to get my mind around that.

Great to hear

That's certainly on the lower side... Sorry to hear about that Lauren. May i know how many posts you publish weekly?

Thanks for your support Isaac. I publish about 1 post a week, sometimes I manage 1 on each site. I only have 3 hours a day to work (while my son is at school).

I can say that's not enough. I believe the WA training says for 3 posts per week which when done correctly should boosts your ranking in one year.. So if you're posting once a week, you might need 3 years maybe?

My recommendation is to focus on one website and ramp up your posts to 3x per week.

Thanks. Will give that a shot. Maybe I can have my usual feature post (transcribed interview) plus 2 shorter, less time consuming posts. I think I recall a training of Kyle's on writing a post in an hour. Will look it up.

You're welcome Lauren. Btw, read also Kyle's excellent piece on customer purchase cycle (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/the-customer-purchase-lifecycle). This will give you an insight on what to target your keyword about.

Also, read this great article by Nathaniel (https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/nathaniell/blog/3-steps-to-2-000-extra-christmas-2017) on his method. Read this to know how he made his site profitable in a bit more than one year.

p/s: I frequently re-read these articles to remind myself time and again on this matter. lol!

Cheers!

Thanks for going to so much trouble to help me, Isaac. Much appreciated. Will check these out.
