If I were a rich man

This sentence: "I have been making a full time income since back then and was able to buy 8 homes with the money I made from what I learned here at WA." in The Featured comment by David @David_S on the very clever post by Erin @Herrinnelson:Comment Here if You've Made $500 got me thinking... more than just thinking really.

David's powerful story gave me permission to Dream.

It reminded me of If I Were a Rich Man in Fiddler on the Roof.

Remember the scene in the Barn where Tevye expresses his dreams desires in song and dance? My son and I have watched the YouTube video so many times.

I'd build a big tall house with rooms by the dozenRight in the middle of the town,A fine tin roof with real wooden floors below. There would be one long staircase just going upAnd one even longer coming down,And one more leading nowhere, just for show.

What would it really be like to be wealthy?

What will my life look like once I've built my own mini empire online (as David so aptly put it).

How would my life change?

If I were a rich (wo)man

  • My husband could retire and live his dream of being a stay-at-home Dad
  • I could give my Mom the best years of her life
  • I could give my son the best education
  • I could hop on a plane and travel to England, Ireland and Australia to visit my best friends
  • I could take my Mom and my best friends to the world's most gorgeous Health Spas
  • I could buy any books or courses my heart desired
  • I could hire a full time housekeeper to take over menial tasks like cleaning and grocery shopping
  • My home would look neat, clean and organised
  • I would free up time to clock up amazing experiences and create beautiful memories with my family and friends
  • I could buy a red Sports car
  • We could take in foster children or adopt orphans
  • I could help others by teaching them what I know, empowering them (Teach people to fish)
  • I could pay it forward
  • I could invest in Property or businesses to secure our future so we can enjoy a relaxed, enjoyable retirement
  • I could show my husband Vegas in style! (c/o WA)

Over to You

How would your life change? Would you become an Investor? An accumulator? A philanthropist? An Adventurer? A World Traveller? Would you buy things or experiences? Would you invest in your education or your business? Would you create a Non Profit or School or Foundation?

Or a balance of all of the above?

To Your Success

Well written Lauren, only that, the future is not here yet but you can write it like it is already achieved In the present tense.

I am rich right now and I retired my husband.

Instead of (I could), replaced it with (I have) etc. LOL. Much blessings and the dreams will surely come true. Edi

In terms of rich, I feel I am already rich with family, children, and grandchildren. I think that it would be a combination of world traveler, and philanthropist, perhaps even a school. Who know's which will turn out, but make no error, I will get it done with our venue at the WA.

Awesome, Xavier. I love your answer.

When I'm rich, there will be many ventures, but first I would buy my red Porsche Cayenne. The next purchase would be a big piece of property out in the country, where I would build a multi-family compound that would double as an animal rescue. In order to rent an apartment from me, you would have to foster or adopt.

From there, there are so many other things I would love to do:
Help people become online entrepreneurs - especially family members, Veterans, women who have left abusive situations (and need to start a new, independent life), those who have just lost jobs due to shut-downs, etc.

I will also provide money for education to my second & third cousins, with the hope that after they finish school - they too start their own businesses.

Most of my time would be spent running my rescue (should I call it 'Rockstar Rescue'? LoL), with a little travel sprinkled in ;-)

Thanx for posting this Lauren! I've enjoyed reading all the responses. Here's to 'Richness' for us all...whatever that may mean to each of us
~Shell

You are so right, Shell. It's fascinating to read everyone's responses. I've been so impressed how everyone has been so open to share. Your shelter sounds amazing. Good on you.

Hi Lauren,
Dream 1. I have had a dream for 30 years to have my own income, rather than have a job. To be my own boss and choose my own hours. I have tried MLM, Forex, Offline business owner, Manufacture and importing, Affiliate Marketing and Dropshipping and still have not achieved it. I must mention I have also lost thousands of dollars to scams in my search for my dream.
My dream is to not have to get up at 4.30 am to get ready for work. Everything else will just be a bonus.
Dream 2. Debt Free
Dream 3. Bring to reality a business idea I have had for a very long time, but unable to start due to lack of funds. It involves making available services that are not currently available to persons with a disability.
Dream 4. Time and funds to travel, my wife and I have never been out of Australia.
That just about covers it.
Thanks for asking. Man I hope I am not still getting up at 60 years old to go to work.
Have a great day. Dave

I see no reason why you can't let go of your job, become debt free and travel the world with your wife, Dave. You are already getting up at 4:30 to work, so you already have the work ethic that's required. I have noticed a common thread here at WA with those who have succeeded. They all say the same thing: follow the training and never give up. I honestly believe if we apply what we learn here, its just a matter of time.

Hi Lauren,
Travel the world with my wife will have to wait. My wife is a full time carer of our daughter in a wheelchair. There is not a single passenger airline in the world that allows her to remain in her wheelchair during flight. She cannot travel in an airplane seat. Maybe when WA online business produces an income I could take time off work and we could go on a ship.
Just not sure if ships are wheelchair accessible.
So all the other dreams are doable. But that dream has a lot of challenges to sort out.
For example I would have to say no to Vegas if I achieved 300 signups due to our carer needs.
Thanks for your reply.
Have a great day. Dave

If i was a rich woman i could finally get married with the man i love, bring my dog next to me (i moved countries so i had to leave him back), i would move to canada and keep studying music and film scoring, i would invest in a recording studio, so my boyfriend can do what he loves. I would help his family to get out of Venezuela as well. I'd buy a nice little house with a huge backyard and huge trees so i can read books underneath them. I guess i would biy some happyness.

Many people say money can't buy happyness but i think it would help a lot in your way to be happy. These things would make me happy, and sadly, i can only achieve them if i had money...

And so it will be, Ileana. Keep doing what you're doing and keep the faith. Wishing you all the best as you work towards your dream.

If I were a rich woman, I would do wonderful things for each member of my family. I would donate to multiple charities and help everyone I could to be as financially free as possible.

Then I would book a first class suite to travel to Vagas in 2019 to meet wonderful WA members and enjoy the sites of Vagas again.

There's nothing like a good dream, Lauren.

Thank you :)

Beautiful, Valerie. Lovely to see you active here again.

Thanks very much, Lauren :)

If I were a rich man it would reduce stress in my life and on my body as I could do less manual work.

I could help my children in their struggles in life and my grandchildren as they grow into adulthood.

I could provide more for my parents to enjoy their latter years.

I could help genuinely suffering people in war torn or famine ravaged countries.

I could help suffering animals around the world.

I could spend more time at WA training and helping others to gain financial freedom so they too could have a list similar to mine above.

I don’t see money as being rich !I see it as being in an extremely privileged situation to help others.

Andrew.

p.s. I would probabably allow myself a 3rd motorcycle.

Wonderful, Andrew. Thanks for sharing your vision and your perspective.

Money is easy to earn. I can always work more; earn more. Sleep less; work harder.

But it's time that there's a scarcity of. Nobody can write me a cheque for more time.

I already had a past life in which I gave up thousands of hours and days to volunteer for charity. But I found myself looking back at these sometimes mighty efforts and thinking - so what? I emptied out a pitcher of water into some dry, sifting desert sands for many years. Where did all my energy go? How could I have done that better? How could I have made even better use of my time?

Time is the nut I have to crack. There's a little germ of what I need to accomplish that, right here in our training. That will enable me to do more for others, more effectively than before. Like a force-multiplier. But I feel as if things will have to become a little more difficult before they become much better in that respect. :)

How fascinating, Ivy. Thanks for sharing your experience. Very thought-provoking.

Hi Lauren

If you were a rich man, that may raise a few eyebrows? Lol

These things are all blah blah blah to me these days! I mean that in a respectful way, your post is excellent, not knocking it at all.

I come from poverty and misery but also I was loved and cherished by family! So much more important.

All I ever witnessed was struggle, hard work and pain!

I had a bit of a break, accumulated some wealth and travelled, worked travelled. I think life was excellent in many ways. I bought possessions and I didn’t need to think about the cost! Now that is such an amazing feeling!

Things turned, friends turned out not to be friends! A bit of a down turn.

I would say most of the things you list above can be achieved from where we are now.

I have no desires for things, I have travelled half way around the world. I guess I dreamed, worked hard and set goals early.

I am concerned when people are basing there future happiness on possessions, there really is more to it than that. These things are fun for a while an there will always be something else that you desire!

I am proud and happier when I can slowly off load more possessions. The freer I become! This won’t make sense to most?

Wealthy Affiliate is my inspiration at the moment, take me to new realisations I had fever thought of. I have done so much to soon, in my life, Perhaps! I got bored I think?

I wanted to get to a point of not having to go to work, I took one year off 5 years ago and so 5 years on manage to get by!

I ride motorcycles, walk beaches, flip to different countries, I have a gentler life these days. The only stresses I have are those that others bring.

There’s so many components to life. We want experience new things, Travel etc, it is nice to have things, possessions to a point.

The key is balance and ask ourselves, what really is important.

When we are relaxed with life and we make some nice choices such as WA, positive choices with direction, I think nice things can happen.

If you come to WA Stressed, desperate, serious, you most probably will get the results but a different journey and set of experiences?

Work, dream, set your goals but enjoy everything you do if you, even all the mundane routine things. I think positive things are coming!!

We look at things differently as individuals. Concentrate on ourselves and serve others?

Rambling on sorry Lauren, just thoughts and now back to my logo!

Wayne

Wow, Thanks for sharing all this, Wayne. You are living the ultimate dream! We've been considering a simple, minimalist lifestyle as well as we understand how freeing it is. My hubby often says how amazing it would be to let it all go and escape to the hills.
Having kids in the mix makes it a little more complicated. Not impossible, just trickier to arrange.
We have to learn the work-around for their schooling, that's if both children want to travel.
And other family responsibilities also keep us here for now (my Dad is in frail care).
So... First step. Make the money and learn the ropes of simple, minimalist living. Then take the gap when we get it.

We all have different ultimate dreams I suppose Lauren. Things have a habit of working out for us!

I have seen so many plan for retirement and to travel when they retire, that concept never worked for me. Do it whilst I was young in my view.

England, Ireland and Australia, that would be a tiring one!

I had to dash home in October November for my mom, she had a fall, she's struggling now, it has affected her to even go out?

I was in Malaysia at the time of the fall. I explained the situation to the airline about my mom, I had a 9 month non changeable ticket.

What still amazes me is the airline flew me all the way back to the UK for Free, to be with my Mom. How amazing is that!

There was so much emphasis and heart felt feelings from the Malaysians, they insisted I should be with her almost.

We can't plan every thing I guess!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Wayne

Enjoyed your post, Lauren and your different take on things, there are so many opportunities when we sidestep the normal flow of our working lives, owning our own time, is a freedom that is within the reach of many folks here at WA, that is the real gift, being time free opens the doors to some exciting lifestyle enhancements and possibilities.

Thanks Alex. Agree wholeheartedly.
