Why You're Being Banned From Submitting Comments
Hello again.
I'm seeing some members talking about the fact that they are no longer being allowed to submit or receive comments through the comment credit system and they don't understand why.
- They think the system is flawed.
- They think that the website authors should just delete the comments if they don't like it rather than reject them so that the person leaving the comment isn't penalized.
- They think that they are being treated unfairly.
Let's remind ourselves why the comment section exists. The purpose of allowing comments on our pages and posts is to engage the reader and the author in conversation about the topic. The objective is to:
- Improve our website ranking with the search engines, thereby increasing traffic to our website.
- Build trust and credibility with our readers so that they will click on our affiliate links and make a purchase so that the we make money.
Comments should be positive, engaging and relevant to the topic.
Comments are not to be used for:
- Leaving feedback about the website name, design, layout, use of images or colors etc. These types of opinions belong in the "Feedback" section.
- Leaving negative comments because you feel it necessary to share your "honest opinion". Negative comments are counter-productive to building trust and credibility with the reader which is why they are rejected.
- Spamming. You should not be using a WA member's website to promote a product or service for which you might have an affiliate agreement. It's not about helping yourself, it's about paying it forward.
This is why every website owner is allowed to review each comment and accept or reject it. If you can't leave a positive, engaging and effective comment then you should move on and review another website.
Deleting Comments Vs Rejecting Comments
Everyone here knows that when you submit a comment you earn 1 credit and when you request a comment you use 2 credits.
If the website owner were to simply delete a comment, they lose their 2 credits and have nothing to show for it. However, if they reject the comment then their website goes back into the pool so they can receive an appropriate comment that they can publish to their website.
So, for those leaving inappropriate or irrelevant comments, ask yourselves why should the website owner be penalized for your comments rather than you being penalized?
And, if you have been banned, it's not because you submitted one or two inappropriate comments, it's because you're dong it repeatedly. So, the system in fact is not flawed. It's working exactly the way it should work. If you want to benefit from the system, then your fellow WA members need to benefit from your comments.
Every member of Wealthy Affiliate has the same objective. It's to build an online business that will generate an income. It's important that you don't lose sight of that objective when leaving comments.
I hope this post is helpful.

Nice post laura. Indeed spamming is particular bad for online business as google won't be ranking it very high. :)
Great post, I always try to leave questions in my comments so they have something to respond to.
Thanks a lot, Laura; your detailed explanation is very helpful to those of us who are new to WA and don't quite understand the system yet.
I agree, Helping people and making great freinds with comments as you learn will only make you more successfull.
Thanks Laura, I couldn't agree more... It may sound harsh but those who repeatedly leave inappropriate comments "deserve a ban"? Because they're not learning from it. I only disapprove "feedbacks" or mixture of comments & feedbacks made by those who are confused. I welcome negative comments though...I can still reply and debate.
Excellent! I have developed an extreme dislike for this topic. But this is a perfect job explaining the system! I wish the multitudes could read it!
Agreed, comments sections are for helping each other, if you dot want to help, you should leave. Thanks for sharing.
