I am holding MYSELF accountable in 2013...

I don’t agree with waiting until particular dates to START something, however it has become part of our culture, in fact ingrained in our day to day lives. Whether it is taking a lunch break at NOON or starting your work week on a Monday...or watching Football on a Sunday afternoon, dates and times dictate the way behave.

So, today being New Years and we are about to start a New Year, I want to first and foremost hold myself accountable for what I am going to accomplish, what my goals are, how I am going to get there, and the sort of legacy I am going to aim to uphold in 2013.

I am going to do this in a public way this year to emphasize the fact that I am going to be accountable for my own personal progress this year and by doing this, it is going to allow force me to be far more productive in the year ahead.

My Goals in 2013

Many of my goals remain unchanged on a year to year basis as they are long term goals that don’t vary much throughout the year. Sometimes a goal can take 10 years to achieve, whereas others will take 5 minutes. I tend to make myself some lofty, powerful, and highly motivating goals at the beginning of each year and then I sit down and revisit these goals throughout the year.

Here are my personal goals for this year:

• Change at least 1,000 people’s lives for the better.
• Solidify Wealthy Affiliate as the #1 online business training and education platform in the world.
• Contribute to Wealthy Affiliate being the most ACTIVE online business medium/network in the entire world.
• Act and react to the ever changing Internet and to update my skill set appropriately
• Read and learn something BRAND NEW each and every day.
• Spread kindness and altruism in a way that positively affects at least 100,000 people

To achieve great things you need to set yourself goals. Over the years, I have set myself goals that others though were not achievable and in some cases I was unsure. However, when you live in a world without personal limitations, then amazing things can be acheived.

How I am going to get there...

Now the tough part. It is easy to set a goal and say that I am going to accomplish something, but what am I going to do to achieve my above goals. Here are some of the steps that I have outlined that I will be taking in the next 12 months to work towards these goals.

• Have a positive impact on people’s lives through help, compassion, understanding and asking for help when I need it.
• Create training that offers people eye opening insight into ways in which they can succeed.
• Create content that people enjoy so much that they want to share in a viral sort of way.
• Evolve WA like crazy. Carson and I have great goals and these are going to continue throughout the year. If you thought that last year was full of awesome improvements, 2013 is going to be the “year of WA”. Lots of awesome stuff coming.
• Shine the existing rough edges that are currently evident within the WA platform. This means making things more intuitive, processes more efficient, design more logical, and the creation of far more organization.

Be nice and helpful to people, regardless of their tone. People come from all different situations and people tend to be frustrated when learning something new or when it comes to trying to understand the unknown. If I can help people get through this, I fully believe the kindness and altruistic spirit will be contagious.

These are just some of the things that I have set out to accomplish this year and some personal goals that I have. I am going to remain accountable for all of these throughout the year and I am going to keep these goals close to me.

I also always think of a potential legacy I may leave, whatever it is that I do in life.

This keeps me focused on my own vision and keeps me less distracted by things like money, what others think, and ultimately allows me to overshadow negative thoughts and people with positive ones. You don’t necessarily have to write down goals for your legacy as it is a byproduct of your actions, just consider that everything you do and say will contribute to your brand.

I hope that I can further build my respect from others through HELPING folks achieve things they never thought was possible in 2013. There is nothing more amazing than the feeling of being able to help someone in this way.
