There are 5.56 billion people online today. That’s a huge, global crowd ready to be reached, connected with, and monetized (as an affiliate marketer).

It is natural to think "it's too competitive", but the reality is that there is very little competition out there within the online business world, comparative to the size of the audiences out there.

No matter how “obscure” your niche might seem, even a tiny fraction of these users can equal millions of potential customers. Below are FIVE uncommon niches that reveal the immense opportunity waiting for you:

1. Neuropathy Socks (Health & Wellness)

Neuropathy Socks
Even if only 0.2% of internet users have nerve or diabetic issues, that’s about 11 million potential customers. These specialized socks can ease discomfort and improve quality of life, making them a valuable solution for a large, underserved market.

2. Novelty-Themed Candles (Unique Home Decor)

Novelty Themed Candles
Imagine a niche where quirky, themed candles brighten up homes and spark conversation. If just 0.5% of online users are into fun, offbeat home decor, that’s nearly 28 million people interested in something that’s as unique as it is useful.

3. Mushroom Lamps (Quirky Lighting)

Mushroom Lamps

Mushroom lamps offer a blend of art and function. Even if only 0.3% of internet users are drawn to innovative, nature-inspired lighting, that translates to roughly 17 million people. There is plenty of room to grow a loyal following.

4. Portable Nebulizers (Specialized Healthcare Devices)

Portable Nebulizer
Portable nebulizers help people with respiratory issues manage their conditions on the go. Even if just 0.2% of users need such devices, that’s around 11 million individuals who could benefit from a product that delivers better health and convenience.

5. Customized Hand-Painted Board Games (Niche Hobbies)

Hand-Painted Monopoly

For enthusiasts of unique, artistic gaming experiences, even a small niche of 0.1% of users (roughly 5.6 million people) can become a vibrant, dedicated community. These one-of-a-kind games can spark creativity and provide a personalized touch that sets you apart.

When you break it down, even a fraction of 5.56 B ILLION can represent millions of people. Consider they are spending $7.4 TRILLION annually online on top of that.

That’s why finding and serving an obscure niche isn’t a limitation at all, it can be a significant opportunity. By tapping into these small, focused markets, you can build a loyal audience, reduce competition, and turn passion into profit. And there are lots of them.

Don't trap yourself into thinking you need a broad niche to be successful online, it is better to specialize and work to be the expert in a more targeted and specific niche.

What niche(s) are you going to be tackling this year?

Right now, I'm working on my new Tea blog (A Passion for Tea) and will for the rest of the year. I have another blog I want to do some work on also - (Salads to live for) which has recipes and instructions and images on making low carb/keto type salads. The other thing is my WA promotional blogsite. My old one is definitely too out of date, so I will have to start all over on that one.

Sounds like you have a few exciting projects on the go Shirley, nice work. I look forward to seeing these evolve as you move forward through the year. ;)

You're building what I read, Shirley. I do keto on and off. I'm doing the 16:8, and it's the tea I'm getting more interested in. Herbals, fruit flavours and green tea. Getting fed up of black coffee and water for hours every day. ;)

Too often new affiliate marketers will always try to choose either a big ticket item or a product that has a high commission. That’s like focusing on the prize first.

However many times you can make more money promoting a product that cost fractions of something say like a TV and still make plenty of money.

Sometimes an inexpensive disposable product can generate more income over time than a one off product. If this disposable product is in high demand, revenue could soar.

Yeah, that is often times the case. Chasing broad niches because of the idea of a bigger audience, or high ticket items simply because they pay higher commissions. That is by no means a path to success. Often times those that are targeting much more granular niches are those that are thriving online at a higher rate.

So I totally agree with you here Rob, thanks for sharing your personal insights. ;)

I did forget to mention the niche should a really issue but the main concern is how to create traffic and from that develop the blog and make them stick with. That the concern i have and i would like to find the way that happen. I would be great if you give some tips on it.

Regards
Jose Nunes

Fortunately, for you, we have lots of traffic training here. There are many different ways to get traffic from search engines rankings, to user generated content, to social media platforms to pay marketing strategies. We teach them all here within wealthy affiliate.

Blog traffic is a combination of 3 things. First, demand. Is anyone looking for your solution? What problem are you trying to solve?

The second is content. Once the world sees your solution, do they want to read it? Is it AI fluff or the voice of experience? Do you make taking action a benefit?

Finally, are you advertising where your audience resides? This is a paid thing. All of the socials allow you to talk about your solution. This is free advertising.

Want traffic? Solve a problem. Master your solution. Money follows mastery.

I look forward to seeing the problems you solve.

Jose,

Let me see if I can get you started in the right direction...

From Your Bio and this request to create a blog. A couple of ideas here.

Let's blend eco-fashion, sustainability, and your Portuguese roots.

Here are two paths you could turn that into profit.

Pick what feels like you!

Option 1: Recycled Fashion DIY with Portuguese Flair (My Lisbon-to-Landfill Story)
Ease: Very High
Recycled fashion’s your groove. Guides flow naturally from your eco-passion. A post like “5 Upcycled Looks from Portugal” takes a day with old fabrics and a phone snap.

Low-Hanging Fruit: Very High
Simple projects (e.g., “Azulejo-Inspired Scarf in 20 Minutes”) hook eco-style fans instantly. Millions crave sustainable chic.

Affiliates (tools, fabrics) plug in Day 1—$5-$20/click potential. X/IG shares (“Wear this tomorrow!”) = fast traffic; Portuguese-upcycle niche = less noise than global fashion blogs.

Traffic Potential: High
1K–5K visits/month in 6–12 months—ranks fast on “DIY recycled fashion” (5K–15K searches) with your Iberian twist.

Option 2: Eco-Friendly Living with Portuguese Roots (My Coastal Green Journey)
Ease: High
Your sustainability vibe plus Portugal’s charm make tips a breeze—posts like “3 Eco-Hacks from the Algarve” come easy with your know-how and a quick pic.

Low-Hanging Fruit: High
Practical ideas (e.g., “Bottle Planters from Porto Markets”) grab green newbies—big audience (millions) into affordable planet hacks. Affiliates (eco-goods, kits) start Day 1—$5-$15/click potential. X/IG shares (“Try this today!”) = quick buzz; Portuguese-eco niche = wide open vs. generic green sites.

Traffic Potential: High
1K–4K visits/month in 6–12 months—taps “eco-friendly living tips” (10K–20K searches) with a cultural spin.

What Do You Think, Jose?

Did I pique your interest in either of these?

Step 1 - Pick a niche. Either of the two I sent you.
Step 2 - put that niche in the hub.
Step 3 - Pick a website name
Step 4 - Set up the Hub
Step 5 - Follow the training

The training is Step by step after that.

When you stumble, ask questions.

Never stop asking questions until you understand the training.

Good morning Kyle,

Some very interesting and encouraging facts there! It's good to be able to see the potential of marketing online.

As someone who thoroughly dislikes retail therapy, I have to say that online shopping is man's best friend. Why would I want to trail around shops, when I can purchase something with a few clicks and have it delivered to my door!

Have a fantastic day.

Roy

Yeah, it is our best friend. More selection, shipping is fast, and it is usually more cost efficient than buying offline. Every time I go to a mall now they are out of stock of sizes, and certainly have a very limited selection. Not to mention the time and gas mileage you have to be put on to travel.

Good morning Kyle,

Great minds think alike, I couldn't agree with you more!

If I had to go into town to purchase my groceries, I could easily write off three hours to carry out the task. It's 24 miles (a round trip) to the nearest town with a respectable supermarket, plus fuel, wear and tear on the vehicle and of course, time. I know I can use that time much more efficiently! The Internet is such a wonderful invention.

Have a great day.

Roy

PS: I also haven't had to negotiate poor trolley drivers in the supermarket!😂🤣

@Kyle
I absolutely love this! If you can find or even create a niche that is uniquely suited to you and has the potential to serve even a small fraction of internet users, the people interested in that thing will be almost universally sent to you because there's little to no competition. I've often heard that if your product or service isn't selling, it's likely not your offer that's the problem. It's your message. Effective marketing is the secret sauce!

Glad you enjoyed this Phil. There is a niche for everyone out there (or many), and people often times think they need a generic niche like "health and fitness" to attract an audience, when the reality is there are 10's of millions of people in seemingly obscure niches.

And yes, the message and being able to speak appropriately to your audience is key. They are not after features, they are after the things that can improve their current situation (the benefits). That will come naturally as you immerse yourself in your niche.

That is very well said, cheers mate.

A great reminder of just how many people are out there and online, Kyle.

My golf course/club/resort review site is now on the launch pad. The domain was bought and registered today and the website work will begin tomorrow.

The monetisation will be in the golf play/travel package/accommodation sector.

Absolutely Richard, it's vast! I really look forward to seeing your golf website take shape, sounds like an exciting project with lots of different monetization options. ;)

The hubs area already has profitable niches with a future to go with them. I am trying to narrow down my chosen niches and launch soon.

Get one going....get the next one going. BTW getting #1, #2, AND #3 in the search engines is definitely possible. You get maximum traffic that way.

We don't have to "settle" for "just" the #1 spot.

Absolutely the case Steve, there are lots of potential niches that you can leverage the Business Idea finder in the Hubs creation process is going to help anyone narrow down their niche, and come up with concepts.

There is still a lot of opportunity in search, though we recommend diversifying your traffic sources these days. There is more traffic than ever up for grabs online! :)

I think one of the most profitable thongs to do is to be able to look into the future, stake a claim there, and just work.

It's easy to see what is coming up with AI and crypto and such. The internet is a super tool.

Many many thanks to those who helped get it off the ground. One is Sir Tim Berners-Lee.
