A Heartfelt Thank You to Those Who've Chosen to Follow Me

Hello WA friends and community!

This post is NOT a boast! (I'm a poet and didn't know it... actually I did, I'll share some of my poetry with all of you one of these days).

I wanted to take a moment to thank the 500+ WA members who have chosen to follow me. It still blows my mind that there are so many who have chosen to follow ME, as I feel I'm not worthy of such.

I recall when I was a newbie and reached 100 followers and posted an article about it which I later felt embarrassed about posting because, for one; it wasn't a huge number of followers.

Secondly, I thought other members might perceive it as some form of bragging or boasting, when it was actually about my own fascination that my actions would attract so many followers when I really hadn't expected to have ANY!

But as I stated in the beginning, I wouldn't even be posting about reaching this many followers if it weren't for the fact that I am truly humbled and filled with gratitude toward not only those who have followed me here on WA, but the MANY who have so freely given of their time, experience and knowledge to help me as I've been learning and experiencing the many facets of this new and exciting business journey.

I know that everyone's time is their most valuable asset, at least that is what I believe. I know my own time is very limited and daily I have to prioritize what activities I'll devote my limited amount of time toward doing.

Therefore, I am extending a very a hearty and heartfelt thank you to everyone for showing me that you value my input and involvement on this platform and with this community, and I will continue my efforts to share only what I truly believe will be something of value for those taking their valuable time to read it.

Congrats! What a wonderful WA community you have built!

Thank you for being a part of it.

It's a great pleasure to be a part of your journey. Wishing you endless success 😊

I mirror this sentimental statement back to you and thank you so much for saying so. 😅

You are welcome 🙂

Very nice, indeed, Kevin! You are doing GREAT, so keep succeeding!

Happy Frisatsu!

Jeff

Awesome Jeff, thanks for saying so. ☺️

You're very welcome, Kevin!

My great pleasure, Kevin! 😎

I always enjoy reading your posts, AND you're a fellow guitar player! 👍 👍

I'll leave you with a video snippet from one of my favorite movies, Wayne's World. The "We're Not Worthy" scene, where Wayne and Garth meet Alice Cooper! I'm sure you've seen it before. Lol

Absolutely, Jeff! 😎

Thank you Frank, and assure you the feeling is mutual, and that is a great scene and movie. I've got a point in mind about live-streaming music that inspires while you work, and you're one of the main people who would enjoy reading it. I'll try to get to it soon. 😊

Thanks, Kevin! 🙏

I'm always streaming music when I work on my laptop at home, but it's very seldom being performed live. Interesting concept! 😎

Have a great weekend! 🥳
Frank 🤘🎸

I guess "streaming" is what I meant. I just didn't call it the right thing. 🤣
I use Pandora for most of my musing listening, (unless I'm pulling up something specific to listen to from my collection) because it doesn't cost a lot for the ad-free service and I like the songs they pick to shuffle when I'm on any given station. My experience in listening to song selections that I really like (many of which rarely, if ever; get mainstream radio time) has been best with Pandora than the what songs Spotify shuffled when I briefly tried their streaming service.
On the "live music" side note... I do like listening to live music by bands which I believe are good at performing live. By that I mean that not every band I like does great live performances. Slayer is a good example. I love many of their riffs and songs, but have never been too impressed with any of the live work of theirs I've seen.

Hi Kevin

My wife streams with Pandora when she works out and has specific playlists.

I prefer Amazon Music because I usually like to stream the entire album of a particular artist while I work, and then keep choosing others.

Yes, some bands are much better in concert than others.

We saw Taj Mahal live several years ago and his bass player was so loud that it almost completely drowned him out!

My wife and I met him after the concert and he had no idea what I was talking about.

I recommended he have someone record the band during soundcheck with high quality equipment so he can listen to it before the show.

He loved that idea. 😎

Rock On!

I hadn't really checked out Amazon Music, even though I'm a Prime member. I'll have to give that a try, as there are times I like to listen to a full album. The classic Rush album 2112, or Queensryche's concept album Operation Mindcrime are great examples of albums I like to hear in their entirety when I listen.
Some funny things I do and wonder if you do as well... When listening to my Pandora playlists and don't know what's coming next, I see how quickly I can correctly guess the band, which is usually within the first few seconds or so, (I have quite good trivial knowledge of the rock/heavy metal scene and artists) but there are times when I don't know who it is and have to look.
Another funny thing I do is when a song that I know and love finishes playing, I automatically hear the next song that would play on the studio album because I've listened to the album so many times and know it by heart. 😁

Rock On my friend!
Kevin

Hi Kevin

Haha, I do both of those things, too!

The other thing I do is remember the first time I ever heard or played a particular song; how old I was, what I was doing, where I played it, etc.

Songs are like "musical scrapbooks" to me. Lol 😎

Rock On! 🤘
Frank 🎸

Oh, INDEED! I didn't even think about that aspect, but I do that as well! 😂

My musical scrapbooks DEFINITELY bring back memories of certain time periods or events, including the first time I played a particular song, or if it was a song I learned when I was first learning to play.

Do you tend to follow, (perhaps even sing along with) the guitar parts, (v.s. the vocals like most people) like I do? I even "air-guitar" frequently since my condition limits my actual playing time, but I can mentally "practice" how I would play the song, knowing the chords and what movements my fingers would be making on a real guitar.

Haha, musician mentality, I guess. Thanks my friend!

Kevin

Hi Kevin

My mind tends to put the vocals in the background and concentrate on the instruments in a song, especially the guitar.

However, some of the very best guitar solos incorporate the melody of the vocal lines. Guitar players like Eddie Van Halen are famous for doing that.

Instrumental song solos sound much better with genres like Jazz or Classical because the underlying harmony is complex and the solo can incorporate the specific notes in chords like Major 9th add 13th, etc, to create interest.

With instrumental Rock and Blues tunes, where the chord progression is much less complex, like I, IV, V triads, or power chords, it becomes more difficult to create a solo that enhances the harmony of the song. Some instrumental Rock solos built from just scales and arpeggios can sound like someone just practicing or warming up.

I don't play too much air guitar. I'm more likely to grab a real one. Lol 😎

Frank 🎸

I completely understand and agree. Also, I definitely prefer a real guitar over air guitar any day, but my hands and fingers can't do what they used to on a real guitar, I figure I can at least maintain some form of practice, (mostly mental) for those times when I can still play for brief sessions. ????

Thanks Frank! Keep on Rockin'!

Kevin

Sounds good, Kevin! 👍

Keep on Rockin'! 🤘
