Domain Registering

I was having trouble with namecheap.com, once I submitted my request the order was confirmed but I was never billed. Then I contacted them and they said it went to fabulous.com so I contacted them and they had no record of my domain registration. So I reordered again on namecheap.com and the said my account had insufficient funds, which it had enough funds. So I went to the comments at WA and found a recommendation of namesilo.com, sent my request and was billed and it was less expensive than namecheap.com and the transfer system was simple. Hope this helps if anyone else is having a problem.

Good luck!

Thank you for the answer. It was of great help.

Your welcome. :))

Hello,
I now always use Domainmonster.com. I think they have offices in the US, UK and Australia. I am in the UK so when I contact them I always get through to their UK customer services, who are very polite and helpful and respond quickly to enquiries, whether by email or telephone. They don't hold telephone enquiries in a que so after a few rings you find your call answered by a real person. They may not be the cheapest but whois privacy and domain forwarding, which some registrars charge extra for, are included, so are free in the sense you don't pay extra for them. Also, their interface is easy on the eye and intuitive. I am not an affiliate and so I am not trying to drum up business!

I have a lot of experience in "domain parking" and "domaining", which, from my experience, should only be considered as hobby pursuits, which people may make money from, and some do, (I have done a post on it), but one's time is better spent on WA, at least for most people. That said, my efforts in "domain research" have led me to obtaining keyword domains which receive natural traffic, even as parked pages, which I intend to develop into sites. I have, in the course of things, had quite a bit of experience with domain registrars, and I am not keen on Go Daddy, but that's another story!

Anyway, if you want any help with any domain advice, please feel free to contact me.

All the best,
Brandon

Wow Brandon, what a wealth of information to add here, thank you so much for sharing.

That's OK, you are welcome.

Brandon this was great info which will be helpful to others here at WA, thank you very much!

Many thanks for your comments Joeg.
All the best,
Brandon

Hi Brandon, thanks for the useful article. I was trying to register a domain with a country ext. i.e...Dotsg i.e. sg but dont seem able to do so . I am based in singapore and thus would like a domain with .sg extension. thanks

Hi Ongchannel,

In my experience, not all domain registrars necessarily offer all extensions. You might have to search around. Domainmonster might be a good place to start. You could search on Google using the term "domain registrar for .sg domains" or something similar.
Hope this helps.

All the best,
Brandon

thanks for the answer. appreciate it.
Steve

I have used Namesilo with good results.

Yes, my purchase went right through and had no problems, namecheap.com just froze up and never billed me, I still received a couple messages back from them a week later regarding my freezing up problem. I was like no problem, its been handle.....I went somewhere else. Too weird.

Good info to know. I checked it out and looks interesting. Thankyou for the information.

Great will keep them in mind thank you

I think I feel dizzy!

Happy you found better service and better price!

How much was it and did you get a .com?

It was 8.99 for .com, but I also got .net and .org..total 26.00. I read it was best to secure those three so no one could use your business name connected to a different domain directory.

Not a bad idea good for you!

interesting. I have not had any problems with namecheap. I would love to keep an eye on this thread. :)

Someone else commented that the register price doesn't go up after a year like namecheap.com.

I was not aware Namecheap raised the price, I know Godaddy does, but I do not believe NC did that. Hmmm

I was trying to find who posted that comment, the cost for .com was 10.89 while I paid 8.99 through Namesilo. I don't believe that just because I might make more money that I stop saving money, always helps the profit margin!
