Hello everyone!
I'm having a little issue with my theme and was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Kyle... Funny you mentioned this... When reviewing and adding comments to your blogs yesterday... I thought how nice it would be to have them in short sections. I think that is a great addition to the awesome content.
I actually just changed my theme to correct a comments problem and the theme I chose has this feature. The theme has the layout pre-designed in case you don't want to insert code yourself. It's really easy to switch and you can preview the results before you implement them.
You can go to tool bar when you're typing in the body of your post. located on the top right hand side-you'll see and icon of a solid line with a dotted line then another solid line. Place your cursor where you want your post to stop and just Press that icon. It will make your posts shorter. Hope this make sense. sue
Hi (another) Kyle, have you tried the 'more' tag ? You can check it at your editing toolbar when creating a post. :)
You should be able to change that setting in customize. Yes, it varies by each theme, but somewhere there should be a setting. It should say something like full post or post excerpt.

I'm currently at the point of trying to find a decent affiliate program for my niche. My niche is HDTV's.
I have been through the course 3 lessons o
Not the same niche, but wondering about Amazon.com. I get plenty of hits on my website, but nil sales.
That's the only one I am currently signed up with. I found another site that offers a slightly higher (1-2%) commission so I might go with them. I've gotten several click throughs but no sales yet.
Hey Kyle,I think traffic will add to your income but you might also consider a site promoting wealthy affiliate.Also finding and developing another niche site. As you build another site you can add content to your HDTV site and you can grow your sites together and you can link them together as you build trust with your clientel they may be interested in your other sites. Thanks for your advice Marty. I've definitely considered building a site promoting WA, I've just barely had time to manage 1 site right now though so my main focus is on this one. I appreciate the help!

There are not many high commissions for TVs out there but know of one that may will have a look at this for you
I believe these guys offer 5-7% and have TVs that range in cost from the average to over $100,000.00 http://www.abt.com/help/affiliate-program

True, but it's much easier to sell the $50 product and those numbers do add up! I think with my niche I need to have a lot of traffic before I'll start to see any revenue.
Yes I understand that, however with your narrow niche and withe the keywords you have obviously chosen, your targeted traffic are only interested in learning more about HDTVs and hopefully buying from you providing that you are able to convince your audience that you are an authority on the subject and hence they feel comfortable with spending what is a substantial amount of money on your product.
Hiya Kyle, You a a creative logical thinker so I am sure you will come up with your own solutions - Bust since you have asked the question - I will offer you a few of my thoughts.
as the training says Google your Niche - "HDTV" + affiliate programs you get pages of ideas... did you check out this one? it says is the highest paying commission in the States... up to you to check if it is the best for you... http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/content/support/affiliate_program
But why limit yourself to just HDTV? why not explore other higher more consumable goods and services and leverage what people do with their HDTVs... I see in your profile you also have strong interest in gaming perhaps your Niche can evolve?
Your website Menu going across, I would think about taking the menu headings deep... and load most of what you have already and load them under the primary heading HDTV this will give more space to add on accessories (often pay higher commissions) then perhaps a Gaming section and so on perhaps even a "enthusiasts" for the die hards' out there - TV building or electronics hobbyists section can create e-books memberships - latest news and so on.
Dream BIG! you get the idea?
Take your ideas and run with them.
PS I notice you also have strong interests in water related sports - there again you could add another Niche completely separate from the HDTV Niche cheers Tracey

My website is still fairly new, I haven't had much time to work on it recently and I totally understand the importance of creating rich and lots of content. I also want to try to stick to one specific niche before I start to expand a bit.

Honestly, I don't think you will find any higher commission rates than you are finding now with this niche. This is usually the way it is with electronic items and such.
Ya, usually e-books and those types of items give very high commissions, but not TV's. :) All the best to you!

Just had a question about the Amazon affiliate program. I'm in Canada and when I link to a site it's through the Canadian amazon.ca store. I was wondering,

once again it's always a pleasure to answer your questions K, from what I understand Amazon is pretty much based in a United States and Canada but more importantly people around the world can purchase any product from Amazon with the Internet connection.
to answer your question Amazon's affiliate program only responds to your API links And tracking ID where ever you started them from if someone's purchasing Amazon products from you from your website you will get the commission no matter what and you have a tracking ID inside of their the tracks purchase from you around the world., So the answer is yes you will get all the commissions as long as they go through your site and purchase.

Just to clarify, hypothetically if someone in the U.S. were to click on my link and be directed to the Canadian Amazon site, if they were to click to buy something and be directed to the American Amazon site I would still get the commission so long as they originated from my site? Do I need to be an American Amazon affiliate as well?
Also just a couple comments below Mark Tait mentioned using a link localizer however it sounds that by your response I won't need one.

I think is just fine the way it is what you need is to check your stats either to Google analytics to your cPanel find out where your traffic is coming from. And what part of the world remember the Internet is worldwide that's why it's the World Wide Web which is www.
so they can access from anywhere in the world as long as your APIs is set up properly with Amazon and you have the correct tracking you will get the commissions no matter where it comes from just remember to check it analytics. And this will give you a better gauge as to who's buying what from where.

The simplest solution is to use a link localizer - this will attempt to find the product you're talking about, on each of the different Amazon sites.
You need to setup an affiliate account for each Amazon location though - then you'll have a unique amazon associates ID for each one.
Then look for a localizer - I use EasyAzon for example - then you can input your ID into each location within that, and it'll do it's best to redirect people to their regions Amazon store - while still giving you the benefit of the affiliate commission.

Amazon links are not geo targeted ATM there are plenty of WP plugins that will help you in that respect.

It will link to Amazon Canada. As far as I'm concerned people who live in countries with no Amazon they can't buy because no shipping service is provided. Unless they use forwarding service which provide free us address for buying purpose such as viabox
So if someone who lives somewhere with Amazon, like in the US for example, was to click on one of my links, it would direct them to the Canadian store. Would they still be able to buy the product and have it delivered to them?
I'm not really sure because I don't know whether Amazon affiliate links are geotagged or not. For people with no Amazon they'll be directly linked amazon Canada.
For your second question, I have no idea. Perhaps you can try make a purchase from Amazon US to be shipped to Canada?

If you add a link for an item on Amazon.com - then your visitor will be directed to Amazon.com. However, if they are in Canada, they will still be on the .com site - not the .ca site - and therefore when they click to buy, Amazon will direct them to the .ca site - with their own internal link - ie. NOT your affiliate link.
In other words, you'll lose any hope of commission.
So you need to use a link localizer, to ensure that people are directed to the Amazon.(whatever) that is specific to them.
It's pretty crappy, but it's the way it is currently. Until Amazon decide to change this, we'll have to either use localizers (which don't ALWAYS work - the same product on amazon.com isn't always available on amazon.ca or amazon.co.uk) or simply have to a/b test to see where our markets are - and play to them.
