Quiting at the Brink of Success
Sometimes we get to a point on our journey and think we could not possibly go one more step. Sadly many give up. That journey could be the objectives you have set for yourself. It could be the plans you laid out which seemed really logical until you hit an obstacle on the way of accomplishment.
No One is Immune to Low Moments
Many who read my posts of encouragement will not believe this. Less than a week ago, I told my mentor Nathaniell I was going to stop for some time. I genuinely meant to stop only for some time. We talked about it, and I made arrangements to stop. I closed the account on which my premium was drawn AND was going to take a break.
In my mind, some lesson I was struggling with felt like I will never get it. Even though I had made some money, it felt like this was too slow and I had to give up and reevaluate my commitment. This is the truth, I say it in love to encourage someone who is at that same point.
One More Thing Then I Take a Break
I had one more thing to do before I take a break. I had struggled to set up the google webmaster tools, and could never get my site map in right. I struggled over and over. Read the lesson over and over and each time I got an error message. If you have gone through the course you know where I am at this point. Nathaniell told me how to do it and in a few seconds, I got it through. So I told myself I may as well complete this lesson before I stop. So I continued to the last lesson on that course. I knew I had earned my right to stop for some time.
Next Lesson Not Showing Up!
When I finished the lesson, I clicked on the forward button to see what the next lesson would be. I got a blank. I went back and checked all the lessons I had done to make sure I had not missed to toggle any of the check boxes. Everything was checked. I could not understand why the next lesson was unable to come up.
You Have Finished the Course. Congratulations!
So I sent an email to Nathaniell ...again... and he said, "if you have done the 10th lesson on the 5th course then you have finished the course. Congratulations!"
Finished the course! I was elated to have finished the course. However, the magnitude of my situation dawned on me. I had almost quit when I had only two lessons to go. I was going to give up at the brink of my success. I was planning to leave when the end was just two lessons away. I was going to quit at the brink of my breakthrough!
A New Kind of Email Came Through
I have gotten used to recieving emails from Wealthy Affiliate (WA) where I was doing my certification course. However this time the email clearly said someone had accepted my invitatation to check out Wealthy Affiliate. I do not know when the invitation was sent. I do not know who it was. I checked into my account and watched with amazement on the list of five people who had accepted my invitation to check out WA. I have watched as those emails come steadily at the rate of 1 or 2 a day since June 4. I had almost quit at the brink of my online break through.
Repairing my Exit Loop Hole
I do not know how many people I invited who will show up on WA. I was determined they will not be "orphans" in this wonderful online community. I will stay to learn to help them just as I hade been helped. I placed my premium on my main bank account and expect it to be drafted as scheduled. Now I celebrate the completion of my certification course. Now I celebrate the acceptance of invitations I had sent out for WA membership. I celebrate the ability to stay on and help mentor my invitees on the WA community.
Do Not Quit at the Brink of Your Breakthrough
If you have been working hard on your website, or on any other project, please beware of that urge to quit or even take an extended break. It could be coming at the point of your breakthrough. Do not yield to that temptation. Do not just ignor it either.
Take a deep breath and do one more lesson.
Take a deep breath and write one more blog for the community.
Take a deep breath and write one more post or page for your website.
Take a deep breath and moderate one more comment on your website.
What ever you do, keep moving. Do not quit. Do not even stop to rest. Keep Going!
If I did not take that one step to do two more lessons before stopping, I would not have realized I had successfully completed the lessons.
To our collective success at WA!

Wow ... thank you for expressing your feelings and thoughts. I'll bet they are more common here in the community than you might think.
I've read this scenario so many times that it now serves as a deterrent for me to never consider hitting the quit switch ... for fear of missing out on the success that is right around the corner.
So glad that you stuck with it so you can experience the break through you are now experiencing. Sounds like you're on your way now. Just think how you're going to feel with your first Premium.
So true. Winners never quit. quitters never win. Winners need not do different things. Winners do the same things differently.
Good luck!
Hi Ken, Good blog. I think that impatience is a big enemy to us. The harder we work the more we want see the results of our efforts.
All I can say is keep stepping up to the plate, and swinging the bat. Sooner or later we will hit that home run. At least that is what I have to tale myself, to get past the low point in the journey.

what a great post, trying hard to emulate your success.
Well done for hanging in there.
When I look back on my online journey it is easy to see that if I had kept going in 2006 things would be very different now.
This is what also drives me to continue now.
It is vastly different now with building websites to getting answers being so much easier.
I am not looking back too often and your post has helped me to remember to keep looking forward.
Thanks again for your gentle reminder.
cheers Cate
Hi Cate,
You may have lost that one battle but the war continues. That opportunity may have been closed, but the DOOR IS WIDE OPEN NOW. Let's concentrate on this open door and forget about all the closed doors behind us. Blessings.
Keep moving... one foot in front of the other... successfully making a journey of small steps, taken one after the other.
Congratulations! and Thanks for sharing!
Dennis
Thank you Dennis...and the battle is won not by those who succumbed to weariness, but by those who kept pursuing even when faint.
Like they say in the Army as far as marching is concerned, "Pick 'em up and put 'em down. One foot after the other."
That's how you make progress.
"Perfection is a road, not a destination."
Thanks a million! I will rather brave the grass, thornes, and admire the flowers along the road than give up. I have learnt my lesson. Thanks for reading!
