Akismet is not doing a very good job filtering the links people post of very unrelated topics on my site. My googles analytics show that the most clicks on my site are to a link

I VOTE ON ANTISPAM BEE

I've used Antispam Bee with good result. I also use a program called Mailwasher for my normal email, which allows me to delete any headers I not want before I even check my email or site.

If you want really forget about spam delete Akismet and install :
Antispam Bee .
Good luck

Esther, the thing with Akismet is that it does not prevent the spam from coming in, it merely puts them all in the spam folder so you can delete them. There is a setting to discard persistent spam automatically but that can still leave a lot in the spam folder. ~Jude

Hi Ester, I know where you are at, I have installed a plugin and went from 140 comments a day to 5 a week in my spam

Akismet is doing its job if you found over 200 spam links. Now net click on the button that says clear spam or something like it. The button is at the top f your page.

We had the same problem.
Kathy pointed us to Antispam Bee.
Now everything is working well.
If you want to change, you have to uninstall Akismet first.

You need to make sure that Akismet is installed and activated. It's free.

Those comments are likely all spam. If they are in your spam folder, then you can just ignore them.

If you want to delete them, you can install a "bulk delete comments" plugin. There are a few, but I can't remember the name of the one I used before.

@Nathaniell, WordPress lets us delete them by selecting 'bulk' and then 'apply' Has that changed? It's been a while since I had to use it. ~Jude

You can, but I with hundreds of comments, you'd have to repeat it many times. I guess 700 isn't bad though.

Hi Esther -

Have you activated the Akismet plugin, gotten the API key for it, and put that key into the plugin API field?

Even on a bad day, There should be no way so many spam comments are able to make their way to your site!
