Hey Kyle! I am worried I may be getting off track. I am following the lessons to the letter. I am about to write my next article per my current task/lesson. My website is beaut

I think you can touch on anything that is makeup with the emphasis of eyeshadows which should tie to most articles because usually eyeshadows done properly bring out beauty I can’t go out without eyeshadow

Thanks!

I'm with the general consensus. With a bit of lateral thinking you can really branch out into every area of facial make-up. also accessorising with other items that tie in with the colour and style of the eyeshadow. It's your site and you can also add 'feature' articles and series just to add variation.

If I was doing this my niche would be facial beauty. This will include makeup, eye shadow, lipstick, cleansers, and other supporting factors like a good nights rest etc.

In your opening blog state you are going to help people how to make their faces look beautiful in all these areas.

Then write articles on all these components and the way they work together in harmony if done right. And that is your unique selling proposition. Position yourself as an expert who’s going to help people pick the right products and how to use them effectively..

Use pictures to illustrate your advice as appropriate.

How does this sound?

All the best.

Edwin

Hi Keisha. I think more people are inclined to narrow down their niche to much the. To make it broad. When choosing a niche you need to keep in mind that you will need to write hundreds of blogs. If it's to Gard to think if any then the site is to narrow. Jim

I am quite sure that related topics would be not only appropriate, but welcomed. My niche is home workouts. I write about stretching, CBD products, equipment to buy, motivation, etc. If I couldn't expand my niche a little, I would run out of material......I agree with another comment. Your eyes should make sales for you......Richard

Thanks! You have helped me out a great deal. Makes sense. I was thinking the same thing but wanted to make sure I was following instructions lol.

Let me add - I always tie my topics to my niche. CBD for pain relief after a workout, for example.

Hi Keisha
I would write more than about eye shadow right off hand I can think of two things fake lashes and eyebrows. I'm not a beauty guy but I know women care about these things.

I looked at your site and soon as it came up bam! the eyes had you. Great job.

Much Success

Thanks so much for your help! I truly appreciate it as well as the compliment. Best wishes to you!

Authoring & Writing Content

Is it a good idea to write about a particular brand, with having any affiliate links associated with that brand on my website? If it is ok to do that, then yes that opens up a

Yes, it's absolutely fine to do that. In fact, seeing that you've written that type of content will work in your favor when you do apply to those brands to be an affiliate. The good affiliate managers will review your site prior to accepting you into the program; if they see those posts, they are much more likely to accept you. FYI, try to work with the actual merchants, not Amazon - you'll have a longer cookie and make much more money from higher commission rates.

You are awesome Jeannine! Thanks so much. That is exactly what I am going to do.

Hi - there are two ways of looking at this. Firstly, if you are talking about a particular brand, and I want to know more, but you don't have a link to it, then I will Google it, and go direct to their website. I am not going to keep checking if you have added links later. I want to know about it right now! Therefore, you have lost a potential customer.

Secondly, it can be a good idea, because when you actually join the relevant affiliate program, it makes it easier to add links, as everything is already written.

6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other I know. I appreciate the feedback. I know what I am going to do now. Thanks so much for your help!

That's a good question, as my first website is based on specific products, and I don't have direct links, either. However, my thought is that you could still link it to a particular category, and still have success with it (hopefully!). Examples: a) pretty much anything you could link to Amazon; b) if it's electronics, there are a few electronics stores with links, even if they don't carry the exact item. Other potential links might be with department stores, or say something like "Sephora" if it involves a beauty product, or a health store if it's a health product; c) run Google ads (these are probably random), which still have some commission if someone clicks on the ad, etc.

I have a few ideas for websites down the road, so have started to check on the affiliate links first, before starting the next site. By thinking outside the box a little, though, I think I can still make it work.

Say, for example, you're an expert on a particular breed of dog, but can't find a direct link for that breed. Then, an option might be to link to Pet Stores in general, or perhaps pet accessories, such as collars or leashes, or maybe a particular brand of dog food.

I haven't done my links yet, so don't know if this will work, but am going to give it a try, by trying to link with a similar association or by category.

Wishing you all the best!

Thanks. I needed a tie breaker. My current niche is eyeshadow, with a future endeavor in other beauty products. Then as I learn the ropes I will work on several other completely different niches. But this is what I am starting with. This question arose when I asked if it was necessary to stick to the 1000+ word articles. I have a couple that I did with no problem. But when it comes to eyeshadow, let's be real. It will be difficult, not impossible, to create long articles on the subject without getting into brands and product specifics.

I did check on Sephora before I wrote, and they do, indeed have an affiliate link. Also, if your particular eyeshadow is sold on Amazon, there's a direct link for you, too. I have a feeling you're going to be super successful!!! [I just checked, and Ulta Beauty offers an affiliate link as well].

I'm going to write about specific brands, too, but was cautioned by my mentor not to "copy and paste" a lot of information from the brand website. I was told if the content is not original enough, that Google will lower its rankings. The workaround, I was told was to use an image, rather than copying specific text from other websites, as Google doesn't like it if a paragraph is too "matchy-matchy". Don't know if this applies, but wanted to share.

Man. You are the absolute best! I truly appreciate your help and research. Please, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need help with anything. You were super helpful to me today and I would love to return the favor one day. Thanks!

Oh, gosh, I'm blushing.....Wishing you all the best, too. I think we're both going to do great things!!! Please keep us posted on how your website is coming along.

Will do my WA friend!

I personally see nothing wrong with it, especially if it's a brand you'll be promoting throughout your content in the future.

For example, if someone is going to be blogging about working from home and they want to promote WA as their main affiliate program, then I would think they'd want to include affiliate links on their site from the very beginning.

Besides, this way you won't have to come back later and add links later, unless you want to.

I did this almost immediately, but regretted it later when I had affiliate links. (Didn't want to duplicate prior articles). So I made reference to the prior posts and continued with the affiliate links. This was probably not as effective as introducing a brand with the link alongside.

hi keisha... dont waste time trying to rank faster, just keep writing content!

Haven't been indexed yet so no worries about that lol.

Hi Keisha,

Looks like NewLaurie has you covered.

All the best,

Michael

Hi - you can speed up Google indexing of your website by verifying your site with Google Search Console, and then submitting a sitemap.

To verify your website with Google Search Console: Submit your sitemap:

Thanks. I'll try that. I actually tried it yesterday but it kept saying it failed. I'll see what I was doing wrong today. Thanks again!

Hi Keisha,

I would like to have an answer on this too, I find it confusing btwn indexed and ranked, especially today as I received an email indicating a domain of mine that I'm not using and don't have a website has been indexed by Google.

This was in the email - '"Getting your website indexed in Google is a big step in the right direction. As you start to build out the content on your website you are going to see your page/posts get indexed at a much higher rate, and you are likely to start seeing some first page rankings soon as well!]'''

Asking for help from WA members who have also experienced this and can advise Keisha and me on the differences.

Thanks

Sue:)

Glad I'm not the only one.
