How can I temporarily turn off my site without deleting it?

Remove your DNS server names (X2) from your domain registrar site. Look for something like Manage DNS under your domain name.

Thanks

Yes, there is a way to go into maintenance although it is surprisingly not a trivial thing.

Several ways are at this wpbeginner website (which has a lot of good information about WordPress in general).

A plugin is probably the easier way outside of changing the code inside the site (which unless you really know what you are doing is not a good idea!).

Hope this helps.

Dave.

Thanks

You/re welcome!

If I am not mistaken there is a way to put in maintenance so you work on it.

Good idea Jerry, I was thinking he might want it no longer indexed... but that would not be temporarily turned off.

KC... check screen print below... and unless you are knowledgeable on code, then a plugin would be your best bet.

Thanks. I'll check out the plugin
