YouTube Recordings

I watch a lot of tutorials....

I use Corel Painter, Blender 3d and a few of the Adobe programs. So when I run into something that I need to solve, I'm on YouTube watching some tutorial about how to fix the problem.

I used to think that these people would just record themselves and be done with it and throw it on YouTube. I know - naive, right?

I've recently been watching those people who ADMIT that they have recorded something for the fourth or sixth time, or whatever, to try and get it worthy of posting on YouTube.

To me, this is a relief. It takes time to get something good and get it to where you're happy with it to be seen by others. And it's okay to record it over and over again. Sometimes they edit it, but sometimes they just do the full recording all over again. I'm not going to say anything about which way it's done. I think it's all good and it's all in the way that you prefer to do something.

Record it sixteen times over again? Not a problem

Edit the heck out of it? Not a problem.

Record and throw it onto YouTube? Also not a problem.

I'm good watching them as long as I'm learning from them and they're enjoyable.

And, though I'm horrible about even wanting to be seen on camera or hearing my voice on camera, that's okay, too. I am still doing what I can. And am enjoying every bit of it.

What's even better is that even though I'm taking these tutorials for this software or that software, or cooking or gardening or whatever, it's these little comments that the YouTuber makes that I'm still also learning from.

I mean, I learned that it's okay to record the same thing 100 times over as long as the end result helps you to be happy with it yourself, too.

Thanks :)

I make videos using Keynote. I can spend half a day syncing sound, text and transitions in my movie editor. Videos seem to drag my OCD tendencies into the open. I agree the end result is what matters. The process (and the redos) is part and package of the creation journey.

Yes, I believe that is one thing that makes people hesitate - the misconception that all these people just record and post. MANY do several takes before they put it up for viewing. Or edit. At least in the beginning. After you do it a while, you may be able to record and post a lot faster with fewer or no edits. Good info and reminder.

Ya, I think a lot of it is nerves. I know for me that's what it is. But, knowing that it doesn't have to be done in one take, that I can edit and such, does make it much easier to want to do.

I am ok in front of a camera as long as I can read a script written by someone other than myself! However, I don't want my videos to be just ok, I want them to be brilliant so I haven't made any yet!

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it for a while at least! Thanks for your post it is re-assuring to know others have similar experiences making videos. You sound like the sort of person who will really smash it very soon.

I wish you every success, Rob

Thank you! That sounds so familiar. I keep hesitating because I want them to be this GRAND thing, but then I remember that practice makes perfect, right! Haha! I just want them all to be AWESOME

I wish you success in your new challenge. It's not always easy to make videos, but you have the will to get there and that's the point.

Ingrid

Thank you! It still may take a bit but like Rob001 said, writing a script is probably a good idea too :)

I just started my YouTube channel. I had no idea it was so much work. Every time I publish a new video I can’t believe I am doing videos for the world. Scary, real scary.

Thanks for this post. It does make me feel a bit better.

Laura

Congrats on the YouTube channel. PM me the information and will subscribe. I need to see how a pro does it.
Mark

Oh that's awesome! Congratulations on your channel! Yes, I would love to subscribe to it too, if you don't mind :)

that is awesome, thank you so much. I will drop the link in a PM.

I’m only starting to make a few videos and it definitely takes a while to get it done without making a hash of it at some point.
I suppose like anything- it gets better with practice

Absolutely! I totally agree with you :)

Thanks for this post... I video YouTube for my wife and we shoot in small segments and I edit them together... She doesn't have the patience to re-shoot the whole process.
I am like you not comfortable in front of the lens...
But she was the same when she started and has become more comfortable with time.
However it is something I am going to have to overcome as I build my own business.... It frightens the heck out of me...

Best wishes
Gaz

LOL! No doubt! I'm terrified of it, but at the same time, I want to do it because I know it will help things out so much more :) I'm so glad your wife has you to help her edit things out. I think I would be like her and not want to do a whole bunch of takes all at once or of the same thing.

Thanks for sharing some very valuable tips. I have never done video and do not have a clue where to start.

But then again I did not know SEO from a CEO and year ago and WA taught me everything I now take for granted. Knowing that all the tools, resources, and help I need is right here at my fingertips with WA, gives me confidence to take video marketing head-on.

Making a living, making a difference.

Right?! I totally agree! I've learned so much with the internet just being here, though I'm scared, I'm also kind of looking forward to doing some of the videos too. Still scary, but I know once I take that first step it's going to get easier and easier.

I´m agree 100% Many thanks!

You're welcome! Thank you :)
