Something to be thankful for

I have a lot to be thankful for.

One of the many things I am thankful for is my sister.

My sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor in July 2017. It has been a very trying time for her and her family. They had just gone through a very serious cancer with their oldest son and now she was very sick.

She has had seven surgeries on her head, several to remove the tumor or at least as much of it as they could and several follow up surgeries because the skull and the plate they put in both got infected and had to be removed.

We are really hoping her most recent surgery in October 2018 to replace the plate in her head will be the last one she has to have for a good long time.

She has seizures now. She can't drive anymore. She has a hard time seeing. And still...she wanted to have us all over for Thanksgiving!

Every single day my sister is a beacon of hope to those around her. She fights the good fight and doesn't complain! She's in pain and feels sick to her stomach all the time, but she still gets up in the morning with her daughter to send her off to school—her daughter is in college now, mind you! She cooks and cleans the best she can and even though she sometimes cries, she just keeps going.

I love my little sister and I am 100% thankful to have her in my life.

With so many things that are bad in the world, I am thankful that I have a sister who helps me to see all the good in the little things.
