Angela gives nice advices regarding the technical aspect. Category pages are a great choice.

Posts can go in the main menu as well, as 'subpages' together with other real subpages. So you can put them literally anywhere and do not be afraid they would be lost. In fact a post you can put at several places in the same time, this is no problem as long as they have one single url. If you wish please see my site Just my thinking, with details about it.

One thing to bear in mind only: Jay's tutorial about evergreen content. Posts have date, so they may look obsolete after some time. Think about this. Jovo

you can make a category menu which will contain your product recommendations.
Pages should be information you want to make sure everyone who lands on your site see such as about me, privacy policy, contact page - everything else should be posts. you can have more than one blog roll using category menus.

The niche I chose is a subject I have a fair amount of knowledge in. Equine Hoof Care. It's fairly easy for me to write about. I can produce a good amount of content, and there'

Do NOT feel guilty about stepping out in Nature to refresh your mind and body....

It's a good niche and something you're clearly passionate about. You should continue on and become an authority in your niche, it just takes time. I remember speaking to you in chat and told you that barefoot trimming etc is big here in the UK.
I'd maybe dig deeper looking for horse-related affiliate programs. Try searching within affiliate networks rather than Google. I did a search in Comission Junction and there were a few, including this http://www.equestriancollections.com/

CJrMom has given good advice, have the courage to write about what you believe in. Your passion will come through and people will respond to this. :)

there are also some in shareasale

Okay, maybe I'm just not looking hard enough. Well, clearly I'm not since I've never even heard of equestrian collections. Thank you. I will continue looking, and hopefully I'll find some more relevant programs.

Maybe it would be beneficial to let things rest till you have more clarity on your "WHY". I know I can't carry on if my "why" is not strong enough.
That said, I also believe that if we have a why, we can still have major self-doubt during the process. So maybe consider what is at stake whether you do, or don't continue. Find someone you trust to play devil's advocate for you and see what in the conversation brings out the passion in you. Follow that....you can do this, but you do need to roll the fog and clouds away so your have a clear vision.
Your honest questions are so refreshing....

That is true. I've been trying so hard to work on things, but my mind is just spinning in all directions and I can't focus. I just end up spending my entire day on the computer without getting much accomplished. Maybe I just need a break...

don't change niche.

maybe there is your niche right there.

have you searched on google for niche name + affiliate program?

Of course.

Have you considered if your like rest of us,the people on social media are like you, they often have your interests. That is how they got there.
So you can market via social media once you build your site really good.
People will buy from you if you make it easier than them finding it. My mom lives in a farming community so i know that many times farmers and possibly horse people are not often on the internet.
When they are they look for relevant stuff aka you.

That's true. I'm already part of a few Facebook groups where I could post my site, but I'm often competing with more well-known sites and other people's opinions. Still, it'll be an avenue I pursue.

I am speaking of your friends lists.
On G+ and on Facebook.
They got on your friends list because you had things in common.
They may like horses.
You can advertize your posts there.

I have several hoof professionals as friends as well, though I'm not sure that's actually a good thing. We all seem to have our own opinions on things lol.
I can post it to facebook though.

I think you have a great idea honestly.
I know there is not a huge horse market.
Like i said, I live in Tennessee and my mom in southwest virgina.
They are very rural.
But, once you get known as knowing what your talking about people will turn to you.
You do not need many customers to make a good living.
You can market walmart as an affiliate, everyone shops walmart unless rich.
Also, I have found several pet med areas that sells horse stuff.
Try petvet
1800 pet meds
anything along those lines on clickbank

If content is king you should be the queen of your content. You may be forgetting that you can create your own products/guides within your niche. If you are the "authority" in the subject people will buy from you. You could write an e-book. :)
You could somehow integrate the WA program on your blog. I wouldn't know how yet, but it's something to think about.
I hope it helps.
I do believe that if you offer good content people will come. The monetization side of it will come later.
If I think of anything else to help I'll let you know.

Good luck and don't give up on your passion. :)

I wouldn't consider myself an "authority" by any means. I can give some solid advice, but beyond that I'm not sure.
I could write an e-book, though I'm not sure what I'd be able to put in it that isn't already covered on my website. It's just so frustrating!

I have collated some of the blogs on my site added a few graphics and made it into an ebook, sometimes people like to buy an ebook rather than read a blog.
