What do you think of Florida fishing as a niche?
I'm in Jacksonville myself. What would be nice is if someone eplained "the rules" here. There is one that confused the heck out of me. It was something about I don't need a license if I'm standing on the bank and salt water fishing or some such. I can't remember now. When it was all explained to me I was hearing in my mind the background music to The Exorcist along and seeing Mulder and Scully from The X-Files.
A listing of locations where one can fish would also be most excellent. It amazes me I'm about 1/2 hour from the Atlantic itself and about 15 minutes from the St. Johns and I had to spend almost 2 weeks to find 2 fishing holes.
What kinds of fish to expect to find, what's edible and what isn't. Especially what can be eaten. Puffer fish in the St. Johns? And someone might try to eat one?
I also know there's rules on what bait can and can't be used. We can't use cut bait in the St. Johns.
These are all questions I personally have and am offering them up as food for thought.
Yeah, I like what Nathaniell says... think about the types of products you want to promote on your site. That is excellent advice that I wish someone would have given me!
I love that niche.... one thing I search for after fishing is the best ways to cook the fish, well recently was best way to cook cobia which i found i did not like. So many topics you could expand on... I think that's a great choice.
It could work, but you might want to narrow it down. Is there a specific type of fishing that you do?
Have you maybe thought about what types or products you want to promote on your site? It's not essential you have that plan at this point, but it's worth thinking about. For example, deep sea fishing will have different equipment from alligator fishing - if that exists :)

From Fletch's questions below, it sounds like there's a need for information, and if you can provide legit, easy to understand information, that will open up selling opportunities down the road. You could even sell a PDF guide at some point, call it "Navigating the Crazy Rules of Fishing in Florida".
Jay's live webinar this week was exactly on the topic of building a website + information guide to sell. You should check it out in the "live video classes" section on the left of your dashboard there.

How do I pick a nich?
The tutorials help and all the info is in them you need. It's a little more complicated though than deciding I'm going to promote [whatever] There is the follow up research of whether or not the niche is even in demand and whether or not you're going to remain interested in the niche to keep it going and earning.

There is a start for ideas on what to promote that are physical as well as some digital products and you can be an affiliate for Amazon and promote all of them,,, or none of them.. After you have perused them go through the tutorials so you'll have the knowledge of how. If you don't have the how behind you then having a niche is pointless.
I forgot about this one. Hope it helps. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-find-a-profitable-niche
You do need to go through the training 1st. Then, you can decide on your niche / niches. The reason "they" tell you to choose something that you are passionate about is because you will be doing a lot of writing. If you choose something just because it's popular and sells well, sooner or later you will become very bored with something you don't really like and it will show up in your writing. So, choose something you really like and have good knowledge about it.
When you are ready to become an Affiliate for you Niche, Go to your browsers search bar and type in The name of your niche + affiliate. You will get several pages of Affiliate Programs that you can sign up for. Best of luck to you.
Have you see this video https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-find-a-profitable-niche or this one https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/choosing-your-direction-it-starts-with-a-niche
There are helpful instructions in the video tutorial, or reading the comments is a great way to see what other people are doing.
Hi - if you haven't followed the tutorials (Get Start Here - green button on the left), I'd recommend that as a starter.
In summary, it helps if it is something you are interested in, and can think of lots to post about. If it's an interest of yours, your posts are more likely to be naturally engaging, as opposed to trying to write about something you're not really that passionate about.
Then use Jaaxy or the keyword tool here - to start looking for keywords/phrases which get some traffic, and little competition - then start posting!!
Two paragraphs will never get across the training course available - but hopefully that's of some help to you?
I hope this helps,
Mark
Tutorials do explain how to pick a niche. Make sure you read your lessons in order that they come. Generally speaking, it is recommended that you pick something that you are knowledgeable about, or passionate about for a niche.

You can introduce yourself in chat, or write a blog post. Typically the getting started classrooms is going to be for questions. I hope you like WA and are able to get your first website off the ground soon!
