The three A's you need to get!
Of all the subjects you study, these are the topics that I think you need to ACE! I've shared these thoughts with my professional staff throughout my career, as well as my own children...
A is for ARITHMETIC: KNOW your numbers! Get on top of your financial situation. Understand your income and expenses, current and future. What's your net worth? What is a reasonable goal for improvement for the current period. How are you going to attain that goal; increase income or cut expenses? What's your credit score? How can you improve it? Eliminate credit card debt. eliminate credit cards, pay your bills in full and on time. How can you carve out some money to invest in yourself... training courses or key books?
Know your numbers and make a plan to improve them!
A if for ATTITUDE: A positive attitude is only one important piece of the puzzle. Do you have an attitude of entitlement? You get what you deserve, nothing more, nothing less. What's your attitude toward people who don't agree with you? Give their perspective a fair appraisal, then decide. Create an attitude of resolve. Decide what matters to YOU and go for it, leveraging your own talents to make progress.
Be cheerful, forceful and focused... Warren Buffett said, "If you want to be loved, BE LOVABLE."
A is for ANTICIPATION: Life is a game of chess. The basic law of physics says every action causes a reaction of equal force. Before you act (or don't act) consider what the reaction will be; then what? What's your next action? It's complex, but necessary to think ahead and anticipate whether or not your planned actions will deliver the desired results or are there other consequences of your actions? Do you currently have the skills to last you for the next 20 years of your chosen career? If not,start building them now so you'll have them when you'll need them.
Don't be a victim of 'unintended consequences'. Try to consider all the possible reactions and avoid those that will hurt you or others
