Hi - you could add a Table of Contents, so that people could quickly jump to a section they are particularly interested in.

That sounds like a good idea Diane, thank you.

Nope, as long as you covered your topics well and did your posts well, you're good. Also, you checked the competition on Google Page 1 before settling on your keywords.

One suggestion I have that might help is to write a blog post that is not overly long but long enough to pique their interest, then offer a more detailed post in PDF form that they can download. That way, if they want to delve further, they can. I did this with an eBook. I wrote a 2,000-word teaser post and then a 7,000-word eBook. It did well and helped grow my email list. If the information takes a lot of detail, it may be that not everyone is interested in the whole story, and offering an email PDF might be the answer. I also break up long posts with bullet points and tables, which seems to help keep interest.

Nancy

That is really helpful, thank you Nancy. Yes I can try all of those.

Well, there is no set word limit or length. I'd say to have an introduction, your content, and a conclusion. I try not to get over 5 main sections; otherwise, it gets overwhelming. I have broken up posts that were too long into a series of posts. That's just my two cents, though.

Most people skim, so I use a little bit of text and bullet points. I try to balance them out. I think it depends on your target audience, too. Some people might like a more in-depth post, while others are skimmers. I try to make a balance of those too. Again only my two cents.

Yes indeed, point taken.

Usually when people start thinking seriously about their wills, they want accurate information, and as much as it takes to answer a query. Like iI said, often they don't know what they don't know, and so I can really help there. It is also a fact that there is a lot of wrong information if you start chatting to your friends about it., and that needs putting straight. I wil try the bullet points and see how it looks.

Many thanks for your helpful responses

Hi, Janet. I understand that you write as much as it takes to say what you want to say without worrying about a standard length. There is nothing wrong with several thousands of words of length as long as it's not repetitive.

Dave

Thank you Dave, that is encouraging.

Getting Started

When I am trying to add content to my website, it tells me that plugins are recommended.when I try and add them according to the instructions, it flips back again to the messag

Sorry Abie I don't understand your question. My theme is wills and probate.

Can you give us the .com URL of your website so that we can look into it?

Can you name the recommended plugins you're asked to install?

Thank you :)

It all settled down Abie. I think I have worked out what plugins are. Because I used 'worldwide' in my title it was wanting to add a holiday booking plugin (or two or three), and a few more along the same lines.

So you're good now?

Yeah, please give us more details here, like theme and plugin names... etc.

Thanks for your reply. I am not using a template. I must have pushed the right button because they al downloaded, but I have no idea what I did.

I am really struggling with this and if I get one thing right each day then I am making progress. Remembering what I did is another matter!

I have lots of content all ready to go and I can't get past the starting line. V frustrating.

Thank you. To try to help, we need to know more about your theme. What's required to add names, if you may?

Also what is your website URL ?

Are you using a template that requires premium plugins. What theme are you using and what plugins is it telling you to add.
