What just happened!?

When the impossible happens...

I've been sitting on this for about a week now. I hosted another new site with WA. You know the drill. Did some keyword research. Felt pretty good about the whole idea and pulled the trigger on hosting the domain with WA. All good, right?

Here's where it gets tricky!

Grabbing the domain while it was available was key to me. I snatched it up and was pretty happy at what I considered a nice catch and accomplishment. Now here is where things went sideways for me. I did NOT have a WP site picked out yet. However, within 36 hours of having chosen and hosted the DOMAIN it got indexed with Google!?!?

Please help me.

What happened goes against all training I have ever had in SEO. Only the domain name hosted and the site gets indexed? No WP theme applied. Absolutely ZERO content. No blog posts, no pages, no comments, no pictures. NADA. I am looking for validation. Either way, it happened. But have you ever heard of it happening? Is the domain name/topic just that rich?

Just sharing my experience.

Feel free to comment or hit me up and let me know your thoughts. I don't post too often here on WA due to my personal goals (that apparently are on point). I don't like making rash decisions in the heat of the moment. So I sat on this for a week...but still decided to share. Why? I would like input into the validity of what happened. I'll be checking Google Console some time soon as well. In the meantime, your feedback is appreciated if it is qualified and real.

THANKS!

My suggestion, never complicate or second guess a good thing. “Build it and they will come.” Field Of Dreams.

Laura

@Laura...I like! Thanks.

It's likely the site was already indexed because the domain was in use in the past. This can be good OR bad, depending on what website was there.

Ivory, it happens and it's a win, take it, sit back and smile.

Why wouldn't the site get indexed after domain ownership and registration clearance? That is just the next step is it not?

Paul.

No content is the kicker.

Indexing is not the same as ranking.
As soon as you pay for a service, it has to be indexed. That does not mean that it will be ranked on page 1 of google or any of the other search engines.

The only way you will be 'Ranked' is if you pay for page 1, or you earn your way there through your written words.

Kindest regards,

@PMindra.

Agreed and understood. But some sites go without being indexed for some time. My conclusion is that the key words are on point and so indexing happened quickly. Should be interesting. Thanks for weighing in.

No problem.

Nothing bad will happen. Just build the sirte as normal! Anyone who visits your site and finds nothing will just leave, but you will still be getting sitting on those keywords when the time comes to build your site out.

I'm taking it as a good sign. Normal process dictates that key word research aligned with focused content is what yields indexing.

Same thing happened to me last year. Just roll with it.

Mark

As in a good thing? Interpreting your comment as positive feedback. Thanks for sharing.

Good question. I'll be interested in what the veterans have to say.

Likewise. Thanks for your time.
