Took the Premium Plunge
As quiet a few others have today, upgraded to the Premium Level. I look forward to gaining the skills to have a better life from many potential income streams -- by learning and then applying what is learned from here on Wealthy Affiliate. There are so many fine folks on here who reveal glimpses into their souls and offer helping hands. Especially I note those that may have dropped away but come back -- that speaks mountains of how valuable this resource here is. It is a plentiful well enough for us all to drink from to satisfy our own need and yet comfortably share with others!

Mike, go at your own pace! You are going to nail it. You have survived 7 years as a coffee grower, you can do anything! Congrats on going premium, you will be so glad you did.
Thanks for following. I've by this time got many of my duck feathers in a row. Eventually I think it will swim on the pond -- safe to sleep at night from the foxes. Now, assuming it does not freeze to let the foxes walk on the pond and get the duck -- should be alright lol.. In other words I'm working on it but not all the parts yet!
Hey Mike,
About a month in now hey. I've moved further away from a clear business idea rather than closer, which makes sense while starting - misconceptions unlearned etc. I agree that LOADS of data evaluation precedes clear and simple strategy and action.
Slowly slowly, though with solid determination.
The 'Walton's syndrome' - classic analogy!!!
Great read Mike,
Cheers,
Damien.
Yes I tend to get all the good stuff, then sit down and go thru it, and highlight what I think I must really pay attention to. Then that becomes a plan so to speak. I'll run with that and usually I am so busy I won't come back to the raw notes for a long time if ever. Having a resource like WA to "blast" you with the posts should be a good thing. There will be many things just repeated over & over (like children learning to speak they say the same thing over and over) but every once in a while it will be something you neglected or new things -- so the system here should be beneficial. And if you do the affiliate part and get a couple three people it basically is free -- can't beat that. Got to run! Thank you for the comment!
Hey Mike, I hope your finding WA a fun and productive ride! I value your opinion because I can see you have a clever approach to assessing WA. Actually, I'm reminded of an Chinese quote Kyle posted - “To know the road ahead, ask those coming back.” Something you do naturally it seems. Cheers!
Yes I have to admit I've spent a portion of my time looking for folks who have been around a while and asking about their experiences here, and if there are any basics they found to be of value to pass on.
The folks that came, left, and came back -- sometimes they have a unique perspective ("this time I will avoid" .. "I really know xxx works" .. "I know xxx and she/he is someone to listen to")..
I've Also gone back to some old messages in the old forum -- where a lot of folks seem dormant or are just long gone, but yet there are a few who have remained over an impressive number of years. I've also seen where some of the current movers and shakers were themselves just new kids on the block and asking all sorts of questions and wondering if this was worth their time or not -- and now 2 - 3 years later they are the ones answering the questions and being leaders.
It's not unusual to see people join learning clubs, and then when they have what they came for not stick. So I think it's not unexpected there is turnover here in the membership.
It is hard to determine the percentage of folk that actually "make it", but at least it does not seem to be some aloof secret sect nor anything like a set up where the top is getting all the leads and the bottom 98% are just feeding them in...
And it does not seem that they go around and erase or censor the mentions of people who have a hard time or are saying they are calling it quits.
I am not sure this stuff is going to be easy to apply for as broad a range of people as it is made to sound -- as far as the reality of being able to make a living and not just be a distraction or hobby. You need to have some computer skills, internet ability and resilience, have to be able to do research and make heads and tails of all the data to get in front of your customer or audience -- other wise you are sort of doing all the work to have no audience. Or you could have an audience and what you are selling is not worth it to go thru the process.
A lot of time is spent here by people sounding positive affirmations in the blogs to each other -- "preaching to the choir", that part reminds me of The Walton's when they sign off at night "Good Night John Boy" "Good Night GrandMa" -- "Good Night John Boy", "Good Night Sis" (and on about 15 times -- all receiving a "like")....
But then there is also good solid info, much of it fresh -- besides all the fluff.
I've collected the little hints I've come across that seemed particularly good -- and also I've been sidetracked much more than I expected by a number of people who have shared their recommended methods (so often mini text books).
At some point I hope to be saturated or else just have to say "enough is enough" and get down to real work.
The big difference with internet marketing -- what we learn here -- is that you can get in the middle and change directions (whereas in the brick and mortar (or farm) world you are pretty much stuck). This "industry" is more forgiving if you choose wrong or if demographics or the weather! changes!.
Also all my notes are not yet organized either -- that could take a day to do there are so many. I want to eventually stop and sort it to be in a progressive forward way -- and try to sync it with the WA course line if I can.
I am envious of the folks who come here with no other obligations who can just dig down and spend a couple of weeks learning, I get interrupted with chores and facts of life all the time.
But I think I'll be able to apply what I learn here, and it may be a real save for us!
I just have to distill it down, and hopefully apply it fruitfully.
Thanks for your comment!
