Local Marketing, Community Marketing
LOCAL MARKETING / COMMUNITY MARKETING.
Have you promoted your website through LOCAL MARKETING?
I have been doing a little brainstorming lately on Local Marketing, also known as COMMUNITY MARKETING. This can even go a step further and be called Neighborhood Marketing or Local Store Marketing.
This kind of promoting specifically targets physical stores, restaurants and establishments around your location (community). Your promotion is directed to the population, instead of the mass market.
Besides advertising on the web, this is another fabulous option to get your business out there, that does not require much effort, but has a great return on investment!
WAYS TO PROMOTE.
Word of Mouth Advertising: Tell your friends, family members, church friends, and everyone you know locally within your community about your new website and ask them to visit it. You can make up some business cards to hand out with your web address listed.
Bumper Stickers: Go down to your local Staples store or print shop and have your very own bumper sticker made with a logo and your web address. Just imagine how many will see it as you drive around!
Mail: Yes, you can even promote your site the old fashioned way, through the regular mail. Do a mailing with a business letter of introduction and send it to all your friends and family and those in your community.
Local Team Sponsorships: Target your business with local team sponsorships, creating t-shirts, jackets, and uniforms. --A great way to get noticed!
In-Town Events: Hand out flyers at in-town events where everyone will be--a fair, town meetings, festivals, church picnics, etc.
Ads in the Town Newspaper: Write a business add with your web address and list it in your town paper. A great way to gain attention! It could even be listed in a smaller ad paper or ad flyer.
Belonging to a community has always been an important aspect of living in a town. It centralizes our need for being among friends and neighbors. Going to community functions and being around those you see on a daily or weekly basis is important in establishing support and a sense of belonging.
Wealthy Affiliate supports that necessity, as well.
So, why not search this option and put a little "jump" on your business!

Thank you for this Erin. Some really good ideas and thoughts. I have wondered about local targeting with keywords....if it works, and exactly how it's done.
Wayne
Thanks, Wayne! Targeting locally with keywords is a great way to thrive to draw the local clientele! I guess you would use keywords related to the local businesses.
This is such a GREAT idea!! I'm mean I'm in a niche that affects a lot of seniors (well not just seniors) and I live in a retirement community, I should have thought of this before, but maybe I should wait until my site is a little further along to start the local advertising so that its a fully usable resource before asking the community to trust my site, but thanks a million for the idea Erin!!
You're quite welcome, my dear! Get your site to where it's drawing some traffic, then go for it! Sounds like a perfect plan, especially living in a community all it's own!
Thank you Herin for this helpful post. Its actually a real training. My site is in the niche of health and I was just referring my colleagues at my regular job to visit and read about stress management. One actually visited and left a comment. This is a testimony that what you have taught us works. I have learnt several other ways from your post which am also going to try. Once again, thanks a lot.
Perfect! So glad I could give you a further look into marketing locally! You are a prime example of it! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
Here in Fiji the stores and supermarkets have well organized advertising networks that would be difficult to compete against.
Well, even a little local marketing may help some. It's worth a shot and can't hurt. Thanks for your input! :)!
