Release The Kraken !
Well we all love those imortal words, spoken by Liam Neeson in' Clash of The Titans' where he played Zeus... But I released the Kraken on Saturday... !
Now whilst I live by the Mediterranean Sea, there are no Krakens here ...🤣 Im meaning the plugin....
Fleeky had been telling me about site speed and how to improve it.... he had looked at my site ad it was rather slow in loading. So I thought... well why not.... I had seen the blogs about the new server earlier in the year but didnt want to do anything like this whilst I was travelling but as Im in Spain for a week or two, time to do the more scary stuff....
I downloaded the Kraken plugin, following Fleeky's tutorial ...

and with Site Support help, moved servers in an attempt to improve my site speed....
It has definitely improved my site speed in general... but the speed on mobiles is still not great.... So seached a bit more on WA.
Then Cory's blog popped up yesterday about his slow mobile speeds...
I found that there was a second step to get image optimising with the Kraken plugin. Cory has done training on how to optimise images....

So I followed this to optimise my images...
The kraken works on 3-4 at a time. I did find that on some of them I had to click the blue button and do them individually... not sure quite why that was but hey it worked.
Considering I have only a new website - 4 months old - I have over 23 pages of images - around 445 in total.. I was blown away by that ! So as Im running through them optimising...
I run out of free trial optimising... 😱 Oh darn it !
So because Google are so into mobile optimising, I decided that I would purchase a month of extra optimising space... 5GB for $19. Hopefully after I have gotten the lot optimised I can drop down the $5 a month for 500mb and do them as I go along until its free here...
Ive got until November 7th to get them done. Im on page 10 so far, so as long as I don't forget and jump down a random rabbit hole ( Im prone to that) I should get the rest done in time and it will be interesting to see if it makes a difference to the mobile speed. Site support have recommended this, so got to be worth a try!
Ive not gone through the whole process of how to install the Kraken and how to optimise the images because Fleeky and Cory have it covered really well ! Thanks guys !

I fixed it with wp rocket, but it conflicts a lot
I dont think what I am doing is going to make a lot of difference but at least if Ive optimised it all, then I can only wait and see if others find a solution.
Ill give it a go. I tried wp rocket but it conflicted with one of my other plugins and support recommended to disable it.
Thanks for the information! I also have the new server on my site. But I don't have Kraken yet.
You mentioned that you paid for extra optimization. I thought Kraken is included in the WA premium membership now, this is what Carson says in his blog: Kraken Image Optimization Now at Wealthy Affiliate So, I´m a little confused, why did you have to pay extra?
It is included and I got a certain amount of optimising free but I ran out of optimising allowance. So whilst I know that ultimately the paid version will be free at WA, what I thought I would do is pay right now to get all the images so far optimised, then cancel it. Just pay the one-off so I can finish the process now....
I know that Kyle and Carson are working on present WA websites getting it free as part of WA membership, which is great but I soooo wanted to get this sorted out now, so one off for me was fine. As soon as its free here, Ill be on the wagon!
