From 20 to 6560 - an update

Last Update: October 26, 2017

Hi everybody,

From the 6560 rank-step of the WA ladder I send you my greetings. Hard to imagine that once I was rank 20 or so. No complaints! I have used my time fruitfully and I hope you are doing, too, here on the platform or somewhere else.

I finished 4 websites and linked them to my non-profit. I have succeeded in getting Google Grants for Non Profits, that means free Google publicity, and I am now learning how to use Adwords the easy way: means that I don't risk a lot of money while learning how to do things. I am really grateful for that.

So my time is now dedicated to learn how to best use Adwords, how to write effective ads, checking the stats and changing things accordingly, contacting the help centers when things go wrong in whatever way etc.

I do all this to attract more people to our free broadcasts about important topics in human life, like personal development, getting older, getting wiser, knowing more about the background of what happens in the world and so on.

If you run a legally legalised non-profit then I recommend to you to apply for Google for non profits to get your word out without the huge costs which a running business can effort but not you.

Hi, Heidi.

Wow, you're busy (and productive)!

* hosting 2 shows with more than 200 episodes so far
* created a Cultural Association "Paradiso Integrale"
* finished 4 websites
* linked all 4 sites to your non-profit
* succeeded in getting Google Grants for Non Profits

plus the other things you mentioned in: With all that going on, it's not surprising your WA member rank fell from 20-something to 6560.

(If it makes you feel any better, you're rank 5111 right now).

I agree with what Jeff (JeffL61) said: "You had your focus on what it SHOULD be on - your online business instead of ranking."

Congratulations on your long and impressive list of accomplishments!

Oh my goodness no - I'm not a professional anything, lol.

Thank you for your sweet reply, and for checking out and commenting on my WA profile. (I replied).

I love what you said in your reply, above: "I wish you to succeed where you want to succeed!"

That's such a thoughtful sentiment. Thank you. I wish the same for you!

Jessica, I am here!!! Actually, still in Italy and the olive harvest is behind me. The winter broadcasting has begun and I am busy with that. The cat site is a little behind, the memories for writing new stories on my cats are beginning to lack... Now I am posting more on my more serious websites on what is going on in the world and my view on it.

Have you finished your exams? And what about jobs etc? Didn't you plan to go and live somewhere else, did that happen? I would love to hear more from you!

I am not sure when I talked to you last. In April we bought a 4-plex (small apartment building) and moved 25 miles away. We had to move since the landlords decided to move back into the house we had been renting. It is very different housing situation and not what I like but it is a great investment. We will live here a year or two before hopefully buying another one and at that point the rent from the unit we are currently occupying will give us a little income.

We hope to do this several more times, keeping the previous building and renting it out until all those rents are enough to pay the monthly payments on a house. Housing is so expensive here we could not afford to just buy a house to start with. Average home prices are about $350,000 U.S. here. We used my husband's Veteran's loan program for military veterans to buy the building so we got a good deal with no money down and the seller paid the closing costs. It costs a fortune but it actually pays for itself every month and we live rent free now. We sacrificed our preferred living situation for this investment for the future.

I still have my same job which is going well though I am busy. My husband has his same job as well.

We now have a commute to work but it isn't bad when the roads are good. Everyone does 75 mph on the highway so it is fast...in the winter it will be a different story!

Thanks for asking! It sounds like you are doing a lot and being productive. I will have to check out your sites again.

Thanks for the update. I can understand your reasoning and I wish that it will proceed as you have outlined. Itt sounds right and good.
Yes, I am busy talking publicly with people. We just had a wonderful conversation about ;en, Women and Power with a German woman and an Uk man, and Mark and myself of course. (You can find the replay on the Wisdom Factory Website Very inspiring. Now the work begins with editing the video in digestable pieces, make podcasts out of them etc. But it is worthwhile and fun.

I wish you empty streets and good weather to go to work in the next months!

Congratulations Heidi on the continued growth of your online business here through WA. You had your focus on what it SHOULD be on - your online business instead of ranking.

In the end, no one pays you money in your business based solely on how high you rank within the WA structure.

I've made it quite clear in past "rants" that I posted as comments to other members' articles. Especially so when the new ranking structure first came out a few months ago and a handful of people were extremely ticked off. In my opinion, everyone who is a member of WA would be so much better off if Kyle and Carson ever decided to simply get rid of the ranking system.

Ambassadorship program - Yes do keep it as this achievement does reward those members who truly do go way beyond what is necessary to help out others.

Ranking system - No, ditch it! People would concentrate more on their business instead of focusing in daily on how high they can be ranked. I assume that is why people joined WA in the first place.

In our society when everyone tries to be on top such a ranking system is certainly inspiring. I think it was a brillant idea of Kyle and Carson to invent that and encourage people to answer to other people's posts this way.
The downside is that a lot of time goes elsewhere, away from the work we should be doing for ourselves.
To find the right balance is the task of everybody.

That's why I think that the ranking system is ok and even a good teacher for everyone to sort out what is really important for them: being on top in WA ranking or getting on well with their own work. If both combined is possible, even better.

Good to see you Heidi and looks like you are making good progress. Thank for sharing the tips about non profit much appreciated.

Hi Alexander. I heard about the non-profit grant about a year ago and since then I intended to arrive there. It is not very much publicised and unless somebody tells you....
I hope you are doing well, too!

Currently looking at doing some nonprofits so this information is very helpful, didn't realize that this help existed thanks, Heidi.

I didn't either. It Was Mary Youngblood Geiger in a show held by my friend Roland Takaoka on G+. She is much inside Google and told us about that.
You need to apply for Tech Soup in your country where they verify the legality of your non-profit and apply to Google for non profits inserting the token you get from Tech Soup. It takes a few days, then you apply for the grants etc.
A good way to get the word out!
I wish you success with it!

Awesome that you have progressed the way it should be done. I have a non profit too and have heard of Google Grants. Rank is a non factor here, have met people who know a ton and are in the thousands.
Reply
Heidi56 Premium
so do apply for the grant program. It won't hurt, lol, to get free publicity for what you are doing!

I hear it's a painstakingly long and tons of writing to apply. I hate to write and simply don't have the time.

Hello Heidi, sounds like you have spent your time well. The ranking here will never make you money, so I think you made a good decision.

Thank you! Well, what I am doing outside WA basically doesn't bring me money either as what we do so far we do for free and only try to get it out to more people. But yes, it is a success and I am glad about it.

Hi Heidi, it seems you have been very busy.
Congratulations for getting all of your problems sorted.
So will you be doing a training on google adwords once you have worked out how to use it?
Nice to see you back, albeit briefly again.

Hey Phil, so nice to see you always answering to my (now very few) posts.
Yes, it was and is a busy time, and when one problem is solved the next is already on the doorstep. But my attitude has changed. Instead of seeing problems as overwhelming burden I know address them with curiosity.
Adwords. It will take time to really figure out how it works, it is a big playing field. Not sure if I ever would assume to be able to teach someone who has to pay every error he/she is making. I already have"spent" about 3000$ and am not sure at all if I gained already new people in our audience. If I had to really pay I wouldn't have done it for sure....

Yeah there is always something to do.
I am glad your attitude has changed to one of rising to the challenge, You achieve a lot more with cuiosity rather than 'what now!'.
Now adwords is free hopefully you can start to make your money back, and learn in the process.
You can always pass on what you have learnt, and if others learn from that then they may make different mistakes, and some successes.
I will raise a glass to your continued success, and wish you well.
See you next time you are in.
Phil

That is great advice. I took stepped back for awhile from Ambassador to get some things in order. But, I did miss the interaction.
Reply
Heidi56 Premium
I do miss the interaction, too. I am now more on Facebook (although I don't like it) because there are more people interested in our message and I can interact in long threads on themes which probably wouldn't be appropriate for WA
