If you promote WA then it is True...BUT if you have your own Niches then you need to understand What Affiliate Marketing is. Following Loes's comments would lead to the best outcome. In addition, if you know what you are doing, you can learn basically Everything at WA with one of the free programs.

I once spent $4999.00 in an upsell for a similar program like WA. It was worth it in the end because we earned 4 times that amount monthly... but not everyone can do that.

If its about WA, the obvious answer is, you don't have to promote WA! Duh! That's why it's successful. You can do what you want. It's a training program first and an affiliate program second.

If it's about affiliate marketing, the guy is just wrong. Affiliate marketing can be done in any niche with any product. You choose what to promote, and how to promote it. It takes a lot of time and money, and in the end you are hoping for a return on your investment. How is that not a business?

It sounds like this person is getting MLM (network marketing) confused with affiliate marketing.

As with most MLM's they have you recruit people into a buisness. Where as affiliate marketing is nothing of the sort.

Let them know that affiliate marketing is the same as being a commissioned sales person, just like a car sales man, stereo sale person, real estate agent or any of a thousands commissioned sales jobs online or offline
