A Crafty Kinda Day!
I've been noticing that many of you post blogs that have absolutely nothing to do with WA at all... Just blogs about your life. SO, I am going to feel free to do the same.
What did I do today? I finally let my crafty side come out! I've been wanting to start an old/used furniture refurbishing business for a while now. I don't know why, but all those Pinterest pictures of peoples fun crafts and creative ideas really got my heart going!
My husband and I have been looking for a shelfy-thingy for quite some time now, but have discovered that just about everything out there is WAY over priced. Even the Cheap-O stuff! So we got discouraged and quit looking. Then yesterday I saw someone on a local Facebook "Online Yard Sale" page selling this little beauty for $25! SCORE!
Met them to pick it up today, ran over to Home Depot for a can of spray paint, a sanding-wedgy-thingy, a clean air masky-thingy (How are you liking all of these technical terms? Yeah, you just wish you were in on the crafty stuff and thingy lingo!) and then I hurried home to get to work! The total for this project came out to $37.12!
I'm considering doing some wood burning accents on it, and changing the knob to something cool I find at World Market.
So, while refurbishing my little bathroom shelfy-thingy today... I learned some things.
1.) It's harder than it looks... (sanding is a real pain in the butt! Or.. a pain in the back.)
2.) It's just as fun as I imagined...
3.) Those goggles I didn't buy may have looked silly and cheap, but I sure could have used them.
4.) Everything in the immediate vicinity will become covered in tiny little paint particles... Including the floor. It will then get stuck on your feet, arms, phone case, sunglasses, and yoga pants.
5.) I can't wait to do it again!
Is it just me, or do my feet now look like elephant skin? (I just can't seem to escape my niche! www.elephantessentials.com)
So, that's just about it for my awesome post of the day. Hope you all get to do something fun and crafty this week. It really is relaxing, rejuvenating, fun, and kinda gets your creative juices going! (I've got tons of new ideas for online marketing and affiliate work!)Recent Comments

Love it! I think these kind of things are so much nicer than "shop bought". Nobody will have one like it and you've done such a good job. My son in law (lives next door) did a similar project yesterday, made 2 cool shelves out of a set of old drawers. :)
Thanks! It DID take all day pretty much. lol Sanding, taking a break, going back to sanding, taking a break, then spraying the first coat of paint, waiting for it to dry, spraying the next coat and so on.
But honestly... it didn't take too much patience! Because I had SO much other stuff that needed to get done today. I was doing loads of laundry and dishes in between all the wait time. You should try it!
I'm following you now... and I hope to see some kind of creative venture in the near future! lol ;)
LOL! The only creative you'll see is if I have a good day on a blog post :) Not the creative type, I'm the creative buyer type.
haha Well, I guess that will have to suffice! Perhaps you can just browse pinterest and look at other people's creativity... That always makes me feel better. ;) haha
That's a beautiful job! We have several local online FB groups where people do this and sell the refinished pieces for big bucks. I think it's great that you can do it yourself!
Thanks Carla!
Yeah, for now I'd only be able to do little pieces, because we live in a 1 BR apartment on the third floor with a tiny screened in balcony...
haha!
But it would still be fun to do! I'm really considering it!
Perhaps I'll start a new site just for that?
Hmmm... Thoughts and decisions.

Hi Tabitha
Great blog. It just goes to show what can be done with a little artistic skill and imagination! Live long and prosper!
Haha thanks! I've found a knob for it now, and once I decide if I'm going to do some wood burning or not... I'll make a follow up blog!
