Are You Concentrating too Much on Your Content Keywords?

It is important that we do good research and find keywords that will allow us to get traffic to our sites. But how concerned do we need to be with keywords when we are writing content?

Don't Overthink the Process

I have seen this over and over again. It is human nature to overthink things. But in essence this is really a simple process.

Keyword research is important. We want to find the right keywords using our Jaxxy tool and then get the best keywords or keyword phrases that offer us the most traffic and least amount of competition.

I can tell you from experience in most cases when you begin to research you should be able to find many keywords that offer this.

So which one do you choose?

And my simple answer is ALL OF THEM!

So here is the process.

  • Research and find good keywords
  • Write content around the keywords

That's it!

Yes there's is a lot of information around this process but in general that is what we are doing over and over again.

The important thing to remember here is that we need to not get so tied up that we loose site of what the search engines want!

What Do the Search Engines Want?

This is where so many people get hung up when creating content. They are so worried about getting all they have learned into every article / post they write.

But really what is the goal of every search engine?

It is to offer the best fitting content to the query made at the search engine. They want to take the visitor to a page that delivers what they are looking for.

That is the GOLDEN KEY!

If you can just remember this when your writing content you will have great success!

Quality or Quantity

I'm going to tell you that quantify is more important than quality. But I'm doing this for a reason.

Most people get so caught up with dotting all the I's and crossing all the T's that they don't get the quantity needed to be successful.

Quality is important but don't let that keep you from putting out lots of content.

The truth is that if you create a good title that draws readers to click. Then you create content that matches your title. You are giving what the search engines are looking for.

As long as you have done good keyword research. Use the simple SEO tools we are given and create lots and lots of good content that the search engines can happily use knowing that the prospect will get the content they are looking for.

How Do Search Engines Know?

We are always hearing about the Google Slap and how they are constantly changing there's algorithm. Well they are doing this so that they can find the best sites with the best content.

But how do they know?

The actual algorithms used track everything!

  • The see how many people click on your title
  • How long they stay on your site
  • How many other people are sharing your content

And this list goes on and on. But the key thing to take away is that they are looking to see if you are giving what people are looking for and lots of it

What is an Authority Site?

An Authority Site is one where the content matches the topic and there's is massive content found on that site about that topic.

Here at Wealthy Affiliate we are taught to pick a Niche (Topic) for our site. For us to get the kind of traffic needed to be successful we need to make our site an authority site.

To be an authority site each and every article / post needs to be about our topic. It needs to have titles about or around our topic and it needs to deliver content that matches those titles. Lastly it needs to have lots and lots of posts / content.

This is what makes an authority site and one that will provide enough traffic to be successful.

How Do We Build Authority Sites (My Closing Thoughts)

The goal for each and every site you build should be simple to create an authority site around your topic.

How we build authority sites takes a great deal of discipline. It's the exact reason so many people fail at our type of marketing. They simply are not willing to put in the time and effort to achieve real success.

  1. You must take time and find good keywords and keyword phrases around your topic.
  2. You must create good titles for those keywords.
  3. You must create a lot of content around your topic.

This is how you build an authority site. When I say a lot of content. I'm not talking 20 or 30 posts.

I'm talking about hundreds of posts.

Many Wealthy Affiliate Members have said it takes around 300 to 400 posts to really find success.

Success may be different for each one of us. Most of these people are referring to leaving your current job and doing this full time success.

So I would urge you to not get caught up in all the details. To take time every day and do a post. Your goal should be to create an authority site. One that the search engines are proud to send people to.

It's not about how pretty your site is. It's about when someone comes to your site are they getting what they came for.

If you said "Best Tasting Donuts Recipe". And they come to your site to find a pudding recipe. How long do you think they will stay?

So Here is the SECRET, the MOST IMPORTANT tip.

Create LOTS of content on your site that gives the reader EXACTLY what they are looking for.

Stop getting wrapped up in the details. Focus on this one thing and yes still think about the details but don't let it keep you from moving forward.

Let me know in the comments if the DETAILS have been keeping you from moving forward. Let me know your thoughts.

As always I wish you all success!

Ok, Thanks a lot
I will consider your advice

Sure, we have to built our Authority site step by step around one and unique topic and all our contents discuss the sub-topic of the same topic.
Yes, I m trying to do that, but it take me a lot of time to produce posts that meet those conditions. It's Challenge for me and I m ready to overcome it.

Karim,

Don't overthink your posts. Do your research to find keywords that will produce decent traffic and have low competition. Then just follow my article on how to easily create a post. You come up with some sub-headings and fill in the blanks.

- Glen B

This is obviously amazing advice I should be paying attention to. Schedule time in every day and write the 1000 words posts around the keywords related to the niche. Do that 300 times. Monetize, rinse, repeat.

No wonder you have to be passionate about the topic.

Yes this helps me move forward, thank you. But i may need to establish my passion most thoroughly before proceeding down the wrong path.

Most people tend to overthink the task at hand.

Personally I think the Golden Key for my success is Glen B. I have
a tarnished key that needs to be placed into your hands.

A little compound and polish will shine that key right up. ;-)

Hit me up any time Michael!

I think you have hit on a very important point, Glen. Sometimes it is hard to find keywords that fit into a good title. We just have to keep trying until we find a good combination of a keyword that matches our content while still giving us an intriguing title.

That's Right Fran,

Personally I find the keywords I want to go after first. I make sure if it's a phrase which in most cases it is that the phrase makes sense.

And did you know that many times if you find a keyword phase that gets good traffic and has low competition but isn't quite readable that the readable one usually has the same values.

Anyway I write my content according to the keyword Phrase I find.

- Glen B

I do the same. If I find the keyword first, it is easier to write the content around it.

That's Right Fran!

And the next thing I do is decide what subheadings I want to include. Then I fill in the blanks. Easy Peasy!!

I agree with every word ...

Thanks Glen!

I appreciate that Zed!

Once again, thank you for this great article!

Thanks for this.

I'd say the details are definitely a problem for me.
I am really jealous of everyone who is able to produce a post per day consistently! And at the same time, much kudos to them!

On very rare occasions, I produce a post on the same day I started it, but most of the time it can take me up to 5 days to finish a post...
It takes me long to get a keyword
It takes me long to do thorough research
It takes me long to try to get what I'm thinking in my head onto the computer screen

I liked your idea of using all the keywords you find around the topic you are writing about, rather than only focusing on one or two specific ones. Will certainly give that a try.
Perhaps it will make it easier to produce content faster :)

Hi Wanda,

I wasn't really saying to write a single post around many keywords.

Rather while you have found many keywords keep those for future posts.

This will cut down on your research time and give you more time for content.

While it is ideal to crank out a post everyday. Some people simply can't do that. So if you can do one a week. That is good it will just take you longer to build the authority you will want.

I urge you to set up a schedule for yourself. Push yourself to meet your schedule. It's it's one post a week then do what it takes to put out that post each and every week.

Just know that your success is in your hands.

If you have noticed many people have success here at Wealthy Affiliate. But it does take work. Once you have a successful site you can afford and learn to outsource which will allow you to grow even faster.

I wish great success for you!! Keep it up!!

- Glen B

Lol, okay... I understand now about the keywords. x-P (Sorry) It makes perfect sense, so thanks for clarifying that.
Thanks also for the motivation!

All I can say Wanda is I've been at this for many many years and this is where the majority of people finally find success.

I'm not a salesman, far from it.

But I can send someone here to learn knowing that if they take the time to do what is taught they will have success.

Glad I could offer some motivation!!
