Pinterest Gold With Mad Magazine!
(Title image created by DALL-E 3)
Hi WA Friends!
I started reading Mad Magazine in about third grade, which came to my house along with other subscriptions like National Geographic and Highlights For Children. Of course, I had a giant chest of hundreds of comic books, too! Lol
Spy Vs Spy!
It was always the graphics that attracted my attention, even as I got older, and nothing was more entertaining than Mad Magazine, especially Spy Vs Spy!
Here's my favorite Spy Vs Spy book, which you can get on Amazon. If it's not in your collection, you should grab one immediately! Antonio ProhΓas was an absolute genius!
Check out the example below:
How this works for Pinterest
Anyway, I started creating Pinterest pins for my guitar site that follow a bit of the Mad Magazine graphic format. They are doing very well with my audience, not to mention the fun I'm having creating them with AI!
I create a series of pins that would be amusing to guitar players in five categories:
- Guitar players
- Guitars
- Amplifiers
- Playing a gig
- Music in general.
Check it out!
So, here's a little taste of what I'm talking about. for each of the five pin types:
When Guitar Cables Have a Mind of Their Own!
Guitar Pancake Flipping: A New Breakfast Jam!
When Your Amp Decides to Play Tricks!
When the Guitarist Goes Full Rockstar!
Practice vs. Life: The Ultimate Battle!
The take-home lesson
It can be good to sprinkle humorous pins into your Pinterest boards, no matter which niche you're in.
Pinterest is a graphic search engine, and most people are not searching for a very specific query, like "Why is my guitar's sound too soft and thin when I select the middle and bridge pickups together?" (Answer: The two pickups are wired out-of-phase. Lol) The searcher would be more likely to get this info from Google and Bing search or an AI, like ChatGPT!
People love to scroll through their Pinterest feed on their smartphone in bed or the car until a pin catches their eye, so create some that your audience can't help but clicking on and then send them to a relevant article or landing page on your website!
Tell me what you think!
What do you think of this idea, and how effective do you think it would be for your niche? Let me know in the comment section.
Have fun, AND ...
Keep On Rockin'! π€π₯π€

I love the images! Perfection! LOL. I have some ideas that are churning now that I have seen what you have done with your guitar, amps and players etc. I was thinking this might work for my horse blog to have some fun Pinterest pins!
I LOVED MAD magazine. I haven't seen one for quite some time (except for the vintage ones in my collection) but I can still read those older ones and enjoy them as much today as I did back in the day!
I loved the movie and TV spoofs they did. Spy vs. Spy was not my favorite, but it had its moments!
Take care~!
Karin
Thanks, Karin!
That sounds like an excellent use case for your horse blog. π
Have fun with it and things will come together. π

If you don't mind sharing, what kind of prompts do you give DALL-E to come up with these kinds of images?
Thank you,.
Karin
Hi Karin
I have custom GPTs that meticulously describe each type of guitar, amp, etc.
Itβs a lot of trial and error until you get close to what youβre trying to achieve.
For your niche I would show DALL-E an image of a particular type of horse and ask it for a detailed description.
Do the same with saddles, etc.

My brother used to get Mad Magazine :-) Great post, and pins. Ive been trying to make my pins better, I think im going to try some humor, get them to pop, when I started they were too small, too boring, and too easy to not notice. Thanks as always Frank.
You're welcome, Kerri.
Now, do yourself a favor and check out some Spy Vs Spy comics! π

I really love those pins Frank! It definitely catches your attention and are very funny. Great idea!
After looking at this, my guitar website seems like a book about tax code. Lol
Haha, Thanks so much, Steve! As a guitar player, I know you have been there and dealt with similar situations. π
I'm almost sure you like Mad Magazine, right??

I believe the movie Spinal Tap summed it up best. As musicians, weβve all had our ββspinal tapβ moments. lol
Of course I loved Mad Magazine!
Spinal Tap; one of my movie faves, along with amps that go to "11!" Lol π
Even now, when I look at a Mad Magazine, the very first thing I turn to is Spy Vs Spy!
One of my favorite Spinal Tap lines is βItβs such a fine line between stupid and cleverβ. lol
So many iconic lines and scenes in that movie, Steve!
I love the miniature Stone Henge prop and when the bass player gets stuck inside the pod! π
Rock On! π€

Frank, you really have this pin thing nailed down.
I have zero interest in guitars, yet I am so intrigued by your imaging and find myself looking forward to seeing your new guitar images in these blogs.
Great marketing! And, oh, thanks for the tips too!
I should just find and follow you on Pinterest. π
