Happy World Emoji Day 2024 - July 17th!
(Title image created by DALL-E 3)
Hi WA Friends!
Did you know that July 17th is World Emoji Day? It's the day when we celebrate those fun little pictures we use in our texts and social media. Emojis can show how we feel without using words.
Here's another one of my useless posts, but if you value having a bit of fun, then read on. ๐
A Little History
But why July 17th, I can hear you asking? Itโs because the calendar emoji ๐ shows the date July 17th, of course! Apple picked this month and date to show on its iPhone calendar app, so it is designated as the official day to celebrate emojis.
It's sort of like Pi Day, which falls on March 14th (Pi = 3.14).

Why Do We Care?
Emojis make our messages fun, more inviting, and can call attention to key marketing text for better conversions. And let's not forget about music, which can make our day awesome! World Emoji Day is a perfect chance to play or listen to your favorite music. Think of your favorite song as an emoji for your ears!
Which Emojis Are Best?
All emojis are great in their own way and should be used freely as the occasion calls for it. However, let's not forget about some of the most essential musical emojis like:
๐ผ ๐ถ ๐ต โฌ ๐น ๐ช ๐ฅ ๐ช ๐บ ๐ท ๐ป ๐ช AND ... Most Importantly ๐ธ!

Our World Emoji Day Celebration
We don't do anything particularly special, but we always make it a point to have a few people over to grill outside and enjoy a movie or two!
No, I have never dressed up like an emoji, but I'm always threatening to build an emoji guitar, Lol. Actually, it would be much simpler to buy a cheap beginner guitar from Amazon (I missed my opportunity yesterday, which was Prime Day, damn!) and cover it with emoji stickers.
I do have one guitar with a monkey sticker on it. My niece stuck it on there when she was four years old when I wasn't looking (lock up your instruments or be prepared for the unexpected, Lol!) I left it there all these years, and sadly, it has become known as the "Monkey Guitar!" Hahaha
My "Monkey Guitar."In a stroke of genius, I added a Jurassic Park Velociraptor sticker to neutralize the concept and return some dignity to a fine instrument, but everyone still calls it the Monkey guitar! Aaaah!
Movies to Watch on World Emoji Day
(Courtesy of ChatGPT 4.0)
- The Emoji Movie - This is an obvious one! Itโs all about the emojis inside your phone.
- Wreck-It Ralph - Although not entirely about emojis, this movie features a lot of internet culture, including emojis.
- Ralph Breaks the Internet - Similar to the first, it dives even deeper into internet culture, with plenty of emojis.
- Inside Out - This movie uses colorful characters to represent emotions, much like how emojis represent feelings.
- Zootopia - It includes a funny scene with a sloth named Flash who uses emojis.
- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse - Emojis appear in text messages between characters.
- The Lego Batman Movie - Emojis pop up in conversations between the characters.
- Teen Titans Go! To the Movies - Features modern communication, including emojis.
- Pixels - While not specifically about emojis, the movie includes a lot of pixelated imagery similar to early emojis.
- Emoji Land (2018) - A lesser-known film that explores a world filled with emojis.
We won't be watching any of these movies tonight. I'm thinking more along the lines of the original "Twister" movie with Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. I just got it on a 4K disc, and I'm in a bit of a destructive mood today (no disrespect to all the poor people currently suffering from natural disasters all around the planet).
Either way, I'll be eating a nice grilled dry-aged ribeye and enjoying it with a fine glass of merlot.
Tell Me What You Think!
So, what do you think of World Emoji Day? Have you heard of it before? Now that you have, are you thinking of doing something today to mark the occasion and treat yourself to a little well-deserved fun?
Whatever you decide to do, keep on Rockin' it!

Hey Frank,
Is the Monkey Guitar a Tele? ๐ธ
Cool post! ๐
Back in my day the Rock N Roll hair was definitely the secret ingredient! ๐๐๐๐
Rock On! ๐ค๐ค๐ธ๐ค๐ค

Hi Tim
You could care less about the emojis; you went right for the guitar questions. I really love that! Hahaha ๐
Yup, itโs a Tele, and hereโs a better picture of it. I put it together from parts I had lying around in my guitar workshop.
The neck is MIM and is very thick. I love the glossy poly fretboard finish, which makes it super-easy to bend strings, even with a very low action. The neck plate has a raptor engraved in it.
The American ash body is heavy for a Tele, which gives it great sustain. I fully shielded the body cavity. It has Callahan hardware with cryogenic-treated pots and selector switch. The โBlack Guardโ pickguard really makes the finish pop!
The bridge pup is a super-hot DiMarzio Tele-Blaster. Itโll rip your head off with the volume knob on ten and plugged into a good amp, so I tweak the tone knob down just a bit.
The neck pup is a Seymour Duncan Tele mini humbucker. It has the power to mix with the bridge sound and output, but its mini size keeps it from getting too thick.
The bride has the classic bulky brass saddles, but theyโre compensated for excellent intonation all over the neck. The bone nut gives the saddles that patented โBroadcaster & Nocasterโ twang!
You can see why I really love this guitar. I could remove the monkey sticker but everyone would still call it the โMonkey Guitar,โ Lol!๐คฃ
Rock On! ๐ค

That's awesome, Frank!
Love the look of that guitar! And I would not remove any of the stickers, those give it true character! I have a completely faded sticker on my Fender P-Bass that a friend walked into the local bar we were playing at, walked right up to the stage and slapped a sticker on my bass. That was about 35 years ago and it's still on it. ๐๐ That shows how old I am! ๐
That guitar sounds like it's not your average country music Telecaster!
Keep Rockin Frank!! ๐ธ๐ค
Tim ๐ผ
Hi Tim
Yeah, I had an old Strat that I played at the Mississippi Jazz Club when I lived in Rome, Italy, back in the late 1970s. I bought it used, and it had this very cool little ghost sticker on it, which I left there.
Unfortunately, the guitar was stolen after someone broke into my apartment; otherwise, I'd probably still have it in my collection! Lol ๐
Rock On! ๐ค
Frank ๐ธ
Damn, that stinks!
Maybe you should buy another old strat to replace it! Maybe a '58 or '59? ๐ Wait.....you probably already have one.....or two......
Keep Rockin! ๐ธ๐๐ค๐ค
Tim ๐ผ
I already did a long time ago, Tim! I have a '54 Strat, master built by Dennis Galuska (the pickups were hand-wound by Abigail Ybarra), a '57 Strat, and a '62 Strat that was once owned by Duke Robillard.
My wife looks at them and says they are all the same type of guitar, but they have different electronics, necks, etc., so they all play and sound very different.
Do I need all those guitars? I think so! Lol ๐ ๐คฃ ๐
Frank ๐ธ
I think so too!! ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
