What You Think, You Become
I need to write a blog for my SAC requirement, but my mind is off somewhere on holiday. I have had no luck thinking of an inspiring subject. Therefore, will just put the pen to the paper and see what happens.
Perhaps this sentence will help: "Our reward in life will always be in exact proportion to our contribution or our service."
We are taught that in WA. Serve first, then we gain the reward. So, how can I serve others today?
Perhaps by reminding everyone that you have a gold mine between your ears. It is called your mind. Through your thoughts you can change your life.
Whatever you consciously think about, you will become. So, they might say, "You are what you eat," but you are also what you think. Your present results are the manifestation of something that happened in the recent past.
Every one of your actions grows from an idea seed you have planted. Your thought leads to an idea which then results in action. You can deliberately select your thoughts. This puts you in control.
One really helpful thing to try: When you find yourself thinking a negative thought, stop that thought, mid-thinking, and replace it with a positive one. You take control of your thinking in this way. You are made or unmade by your own doing.
Since our thoughts bring our results, let's create an image for the year ahead. After all, by our thinking we decide our future.
If we become discouraged because we fail, we can rest assured that failure is often the turning point that swings to success. It is not what comes to us that is important; it's what we get from it.
Failure is a necessary part of success. If we are resilient nothing is final until we choose to accept it. Be consistent, persistent, and resilient.
So, there you have it, folks -- when my brain goes on holiday I still spew forth many words. I hope some of them make sense to you. Thanks for reading.

Thank you Fran,
"Be consistent, persistent, and resilient" Yes indeed it is not always easy.
I liken the mind to a garden.
Feed it with love & good nutriments, & it will reward you with a hearty crop.

I know what you are getting at here, but this isn't the whole story.
If we were really in control of our thoughts, negative thoughts would not arise unbidden. Basically, most people are not in control of their thoughts 80% of the time, whether they are positive or negative. These can be described as temporary thought-objects flitting across our field of consciousness.
Aware of them, we can choose to act upon them or not, as we please. It makes absolutely no difference if they are positive or negative in this case.
But one has to be strong enough to maintain awareness and not be captured by the undesirable thought and instead be captured by the desirable ones.
Hence, replacing a negative thought pattern with an arbitrary positive one is helpful but it isn't enough. We have to make sure the desirable thought arises with as much strength as the negative one.
By the way, who is the 'you' that you say is taking control of your thoughts and doing this replacing? What is that part of us deciding if a thought is positive or negative?
Whatever it is, that must mean there must be a higher agency in place in each of us -- higher than the part that of us thinks!
And that's true.
So the necessary process is more accurately described as being consciously aware enough that whatever thought flits across our minds, we don't have to be captured by.
Only then, through observation, can we begin to diminish this unwanted pattern of thought. After that (or concurrently) we can put in place a new pattern of thought.
But it has to be a desired pattern, not just a positive one of any kind.
Hey thanks a lot but I'm pleased you posted the blog to attract your followers to consider these important ideas of gaining control over our minds :) It's absolutely essential! cheers Marc
It,s called Procrastination Fran a deadly disease that inflicts us all.You need to beat it with a two hour challenge to do something.
or put it off for as bit longer Haha.

No, it's not procrastination. I have not been idle. My mind is all twisted around writing reviews and can't seem to think outside that particular box at the moment.

Thank you, Fran. So eloquently explained. I love your line "Every one of your actions grows from an idea seed you have planted. Your thought leads to an idea which then results in action." I would have continued to say: ", and action leads to success."
Have you read, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill? A very good book on positive thinking.
I have read it more than once. It's a great book...and I also like the way you finished out my sentence. Thanks!
