It's True Confessions Time

Okay, I've been thinking, which can be a dangerous activity. I have reached the conclusion that I am not involved in Wealthy Affiliate for the money.

Now, don't get me wrong. At some point, I'd like to see my websites bringing in lots of cash, but I am not stressing about it. I think it will happen when the time is right.

Meanwhile, I'm okay. My income is small, but so are my needs. There's a line from a song we sing in our music group: "I don't have many, but I've got enough." I do have enough, so will just carry on with my simple lifestyle until success overtakes me.

Therefore, I don't stress over money. Instead, I've found that it gives me great satisfaction to see a new post going up on my website. I love to write, and will often finish a whole post and not even think to add an affiliate product. The importance to me is that I've written the story.

I've always loved to write. I worked on the school newspaper as feature editor in high school. Our sponsor was also my English teacher, and he encouraged my writing a great deal. I wanted to become a full-time writer,

However, the school gave us aptitude tests and counseling to help us decide on a career move. When they got to me, they said it was extremely difficult to make a living as a writer, and perhaps I should consider typing and office machines instead.

I was disappointed, but did as I was told, as I was too young to realize I didn't have to believe them. I could still follow my dream of becoming a writer.

However, I must admit, I learned skills that have helped me all my life. I became an excellent typist, a skill that can be very helpful when writing. I also learned enough other office skills to make running my own business later on much easier.

Though I did not adopt writing as my career, I still wrote every chance I got because I loved putting ideas on paper. While I developed my jewelry business, I wrote, and ended up publishing five books over a period of years. Not bad for someone who was told to forget writing.

And now, look at me! I'm writing for a living. Of course, there isn't much in the way of "a living" yet, but I can write all I want and will be encouraged to do more, rather than stop.

Perhaps I can consider this an example of the way the Universe delivers our heart's desire. It just took a long time for that seed to fully germinate. Over the years, I have been writing as one part of my life. Now, finally, the writing is a prominent part of things.

Funny, how very differently we all see things. That's one of the things that makes life so fascinating -- the amount of diversity. I read messages from many people who really don't know how to write, or don't believe they can ever do so successfully.

To them, I say that everything takes practice to perfect. The same is true of writing. The more you practice, the easier it will become.

I am thankful that at last I can follow my dream and write to my heart's content. I do believe that one day I will get paid for it!

Fran, not a penny here yet either...and..like you, I'm not concerned at all. I know this is a marathon, not a sprint. I'm figuring it will take years for it to be profitable. I know since I started at WA my writing skills have improved.

Maybe one day you and I will make a sale on the same day!

Cal

Oh, that would be fun.

I've made a few small sales, but nothing to write home about. I keep hoping I'll start getting some WA referrals. Not sure how long that takes.

That is the best, you will love it more and with more passion. If that was what I was financially capable of doing I would be the same, and my site Blissed Mind would be my baby instead of me focusing on Financially Blissed Mind. Because spirituality is my passion, but I figure once I get the money coming in then I will have more time to focus on Blissed Mind more.

As well as you love to write, if you find yourself needing money faster you can look into selling ebooks. You write so well when talking of your experiences, I am sure there are thousands that would love to hear your words.

I have published books,Sara. I have five of them, and three are still on the market. Ebooks is a good idea, but don't think I want to do them.

This is such a nice reading, Fran, I would say your dream has already come true, so as a side-effect to your success the money will follow on time.

I am having the same feeling and what is still incredible for me is we are published. Just pushing that publish button. There was a time you had to go a hard way to find someone ready to publish you.

This is a really nice progress in my eyes. Reconciles me with technology...

Have a lovely day,
Anne

I like that -- "reconciles me with technology." Well, something ought to do that for us folks who are lost in the technology sea.

Yes, it is nice we can just push a button and we're loose in the world.

I've started and deleted this reply a few times. I admire you candor and I'm sure that there are many out there in in WAnderland that are now letting out a sigh of relief and thinking, "Thank goodness it's not just me" There will be a surge of new and original content filling the blank 'templates' after they've read your post.

Well, that would be a great reaction. Thanks, Twack.

Always welcome.

I absolutely love this post, and in fact had a similar private conversation with another member here, where they were saying they write for the love of it! I told them I was jealous!

We do need the money. The minute that pressure is there, it all becomes about affiliating and following rules and products and reviews. Ok we all still try to 'help', but we enter the writing process with an end goal, to get people to click on a link! Of course that is fine.

To be able to just write for love, passion and joy would be wonderful the dream. It is my plan to start my passion project after this website and run them alongside each other, but of course the time and energy needs to be dedicated to my Niche website first.

Your attitude to your writing and WA and possible life, is inspiring. I think you have the right mix, live simply. Unfortunately I learned this lesson later in life and now have the task of clearing the debt of not living so simply. But I will get there.

I look forward to continuing to follow your wonderful journey!

You will make it -- I was once horribly in debt, and managed to work through all that. At this stage of my life, I don't need much. I am very fortunate, of course, but also lived with intention, so all is fine.

Thank you Fran
Great Post.
Yes I can relate to your school days (we are only a couple of years difference age wise).

"Universe delivers our heart's desire" - how true.

You love writing & I enjoy reading what you write.

I need to write more & hang the errors I make as practice will help in my journey of having FUN.

Keep doing what you love.

Denis

You are right -- write it first and don't mess with the errors. That is the part you do when you edit. Just get it down on paper.

So glad you enjoy my writing. Thanks very much! Go check out my cat website sometime and read what Lucinda the literate cat writes. She's far more entertaining than me.

Great - I will check out Lucinda.
I will give you an update what she has been saying. LOL

Denis

Cool...if you don't have it, my web address is shown below my list of posts. When you get on the site, go to the category at top "literate cat." Then click on children's books, and you'll see "Lucinda's reviews." There are quite a few of them.

Thank you cantankerous Fran LOL

What a great website - love it.

Lucinda IS quite remarkable (so she says)

Sorry, I have always been a dog lover & never owned a cat. My mother in law had a Siamese, so when visiting would make herself comfortable on my lap.

Denis

Well, at least the cat gave you a mark of approval.

You most certainly will get paid for it with that attitude. And it will be richly deserved.
BTW your teacher thought much more highly of you than my English teacher did of me. In my final report on leaving school she wrote (and I quote word for word).

"As far as his contribution to life is concerned he may as well grow to see in a cabbage patch."

I still chuckle over that today but don't think a teacher would be allowed to be so brutally honest in her assessment of a pupil in this day and age.

Anyway as it turned out my cabbage patch was fun and I have read a lot of books - sometimes reading as many as three to four a week.
And my writing skills are OK - people can understand me.

Maybe Miss Blatch's parting jibe at me had a positive impact after all.

Keep living the life you want Fran - it's all coming together.

You are right -- it is all coming together. I do think sometimes "pot shots" at us can rile us so much we set out to prove the "shooter" wrong. I believe that is what you have done.

Follow your dreams. Short-sighted teachers cut you off in your youth, but now you have a chance to embrace your passion. Follow your dreams and to hell with the dream stealers!
I got a scholarship to RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) in the UK. My father would not allow me to take it up. He said there was no money in acting. For the most part that is true. But I believe we need to follow the dream come what may!
I got this out of my system by becoming a radio presenter many years later. That was much easier you didn't have to learn any lines!

It takes us a while to learn the value of following our dreams. Now I would not listen to those counselors, but I was a dumb kid...or at least, too timid a kid. Not timid any longer...lol...

My teachers told me I was wasting my parents money and their time and I would never become anything as a Singer and Fran I listened too and had all kinds of random jobs until the day I decided to become a professional singer/Entertainer and this was my career for over 30 years and I raised my 2 children from the income I earned.
Good on you for writing and Everyone should read what you write, my friend as you are an amazing writer!!!!
Go FRAN!!!!
Love it
Vicki

Bless your heartbone, my friend. When I am ready to employ cheer-leaders, will offer you the Head Cheerleader job.

lol not sure I suit a skirt Fran but shorts- Yes, I'm good to go when you are

Thank you for sharing your a part of your story with us, I really appreciate you.

When you love doing something it is not like working and as you say some day you will start getting paid for sharing what you truly love.

All the very best success to you Fran

Have a great day and a wonderful week

Jennifer

Thanks, my sweet friend...you, too. Hope your week is marvelous.

I gotta admit, the SAC challenge feels a bit like work now and then, especially when researching reviews. I'm working on developing my own style of reviews that cover all the necessary points but are more fun to write.

I am with you there Fran

I am mainly focusing on "how to" content because prefer to write those.

Leaving the reviews till a little later when I have built up my content,

Hmm...how to, huh? I am doing my reviews like a good girl, but I don't like them. I'll have to consider a "how to."

I need to do more reviews because I have done mainly how to posts and need to balance it out.

They are not my favourites but this is because I am still finding my way with them.

Oh well it is all part of the journey

Jennifer

Boy, do I know how you feel. I recently added a category to my page called "Millionaire Mindset." It allows me to write some motivational posts, and I'm enjoying them. Just wrote one this evening. Now I have to go and do another review. They are getting easier, but I still don't enjoy doing them. Maybe that will change.

Good luck with your reviews. Hope they go okay.

It is really funny because I am now beginning to enjoy doing products reviews.

I think because I made myself do them and now I am beginning to find my flow with them.

I want to have a balance and I am now getting there. LOL

Jennifer

Jennifer, read Jerry's post. It was very helpful. Maybe you will find a few gems in there as well.

Thank you Fran

Yes I have read it and studied it.

I am getting better with Product reviews now and started to actually love writing them.

Thank you for your help.

Have a great day

Jennifer
