A favour to ask Kyle and Carson - can we lose the shoes?

Hey guys, you both know I love this place. We chat on FB (Kyle) and here (Carson). I am working the lessons and learning in leaps and bounds.

I love to share my awesome custom links that I have created through the Links page but I have one very real and serious question.

Why, oh why, does a picture of Air Jordan's come up when I share it on Facebook or G+?

I'm talking -

or

or even

I realize that this last picture shows how one can have their website at the top for this search term, but I'm wondering if there is a way (that I haven't found out) to customize this, especially since it is a customized link for my welcome page that I am sharing!

Any Ambassadors know the answer to this? I end up just deleting the images, for a cleaner look on the link on FB at least, but just wondering if it can be customized.

Not really a blog, more of a question, but I felt like sharing with the world in a blog. Your responses are graciously welcomed!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Sarah

Hiya - You may also want to read my last post about "Getting Rid of Bubble Man!" I talk about the sharing buttons and the images that come up. Perhaps, that's where the problem lies? - Good Luck!

Certainly is important to have a Gravatar (which is what I believe your post is about) but this wasn't quite as solveable. I'm still waiting for Jay to run into Kyle in the diaper aisle at Costco and rewrite the code! lol.

Nope. My post resolves the picture being automatically chosen when other people try to share your article on Fb or Google plus, etc. In my case, it kept showing the bubble man picture. So now, I've chosen which picture shows up when someone shares. Thats what it sounded like to me which is why I shared my post. Just trying to help... good luck!

Ah yes, that one is annoying too.

Hey Sarah,

The reason why those images show up is because Facebook uses something called Open Graph protocol (http://ogp.me/) which is kind of a meta tag for Facebook.

When a website doesn't have any OPG within the code, Facebook chooses the first properly sized image it sees.
And from the sound of it, Nike Jordans is the image is sees! lol

THE FIX
* request the fellas to add some code like this:
<meta property="og:image" content="http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/images/aLiketoSomeAwesomeImage" />
There is currently some code like that in there which points to:
http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com/assets/img/nichemarketing/wa-logo-blue-grad.png

But the image is too small as you need to use an image that's at least 200x200px

You can have a look here:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http://www.wealthyaffiliate.com

Hope this helps! :)

Thanks, Jay. Indeed, that is the image that is ruling that page. So, by "the fellas" I assume you are referring to Kyle and Carson, right? Given that Vegas is SOOO far away, I wonder if they will see this conversation and jump in... Kyle???

I think it is a valid request and will see what I can do.

Maybe I'll bump into Carson or Kyle this weekend at Costco.. ;)

Damn you ;) Appreciate the feedback.

LOVE this post! I'm sending info to several folks right now and keep choosing the computer screen. Hey - it's all in the details, right? LOL

Agreed. I think it makes the link look spammy and really would love the opportunity to customize with either my profile photo or something more corporate looking. Otherwise, its' just another "shoe spam".

I will second that request, at least give 3 unrelated images...

That too! Thanks.
