Most Common Mistakes: Spreading Yourself Too Thin!
One of the most common topics I cover when responding to my referrals' questions is on spreading themselves too thin. Too often a brand new member will think they need to be building out all their websites at once. They see that they have the ability to build 3 or build 10, so they do.
This will leave you spread EXTREMELY thin! Don't do this!
Instead, make life that much easier on yourself and KEEP IT SIMPLE!
Focusing on a single website will allow you to put in so much more effort and produce so much more content for that website, allowing it to grow and find its audience. Think about it, if you're working on 2 websites you'd literally double the content production just by simplifying down to one. And if you're working on 3, you'd TRIPLE your content production by streamlining down.
Don't make the common mistake of spreading yourself thin. Even if you think it's not wearing down on you, you're still shorting your business potential by using a single work crew (you) to run both businesses. 👍🏼
Avoid the common mistakes!
Be productive today!
Get after it!

💯 agree with you man.
Started a weight loss site before joining WA. It finally has 50 pages so I don’t wanna ditch it just yet. Trying to give the reins over to my wife so I can concentrate more on the guitar playing/music site, which I created while at WA. This one IS my passion for sure. I’m working on it! lol
You don’t have to delete the weight loss site, just focus your efforts on the guitar site so you can grow 💯
Thanks, Eric. I’m working on posting more w the guitar site. I’ve been a little hesitant to share my work but finally decided to share my sites on FB and IG. Have a link in the bio but apparently no one reads that. 🧐 It’s a bit tedious, as I have to message individually to all my musician friends on IG.
I’ve also posted a short bio and link on FB for the guitar site. Many of my friends are sharing it on their page as well. Trying to get the word out!
Sending content individually to people online takes away the leverage you have. That’s like a business owner foregoing a tv commercial to call people individually on the phone. Also, your friends will get tired of you spamming your links to them.
Instead, post your links in your stories. Make it a habit to post stories daily, not just to share your content, but sharing relevant content to the niche, sharing other related account’s content as well, and then when you share your own posts through your stories it’s seamless and doesn’t come off as spammy. Plus you’ll reach more people.
The more active you are with your stories the more people will start investigating your profile and what you have to offer and then the link in bio gets more clicks too.
You can also create instagram posts that are related to a recent post you published and use a “Check out my link in bio” CTA in your caption to nudge your followers to check it out.
There’s all kinds of ways to drive traffic to your links on Instagram, including profile highlights, etc.
That’s a great idea. I did experiment with doing an IG story around Halloween. Added music and link to the site. It automatically shares the story on fb too. So, the link worked correctly on the fb story but not on IG. I’ll have to play around with it more.
Do you have a class on this stuff?
Links in stories are pretty straightforward on instagram. Once you have a photo or video ready to go for the story you just click on the square sticker icon up at the top and click on Link. You'll enter the url and you have the option to customize how you want the sticker text to read. You can also preview the link to make sure it's correct. That's all there is to it. 👍🏼
Cool. I actually made one a few minutes ago. I’ll try and do more of these stories. Thanks
As of now, I don’t have an IG for my guitar site. I’m using my old band’s IG, which I started, to create stories and linking back to the guitar site. Is this okay or should I create one with the same name as the blog?
If you have an active following for that instagram band account and they're interested in your shares you can utilize it as you are. That's a highly relevant audience so it can work. Nothing bad can come from creating a separate new account for the website to see how that goes. And then when you do create a new account you can share any posts or stories from that new account directly to your band's instagram as well and then those followers will know this new account exists. The more relevant the better,
Try different things and see how it goes 👍🏼
