You can double or tripple your SEO (Search Engine Optimization) traffic in the next few months using the free tool I'm about to discuss here.

What you are about to learn is from my practical experience. Trust me, it's going to work for you as well.

Double your SEO Traffic with Google Search Console (GSC)

There is so much information here on what Google Search Console (Formerly Google Webmaster Tools) is and how to set it up. I won't be focusing on that here.

If you absolutely don't know about it, I recommend you type the name in the search box above for awesome free stuffs how to set it up.

But if you've set it up on your website, follow these simple steps to see your Search engine natural traffic doubled or trippled in the next few weeks or months.

Is Competitor analysis breaking your day?

In SEO, competition is what makes it tough and competitor analysis is a must. There are always people doing better than you in something. That's why you must analize their perfomance, see what the've done to rank better than you and then try to do better and outrank them.

If you are already ranking and rocking in some keywords, the simple truth is that you can't hide it. With today's SEO tools, you will be easily be found.

Someone is analyzing your ranking, doing his best to kick you away and take that sweet spot. As you spy on others, others are spying on you. That's what makes the industry challenging.

But forget Competitor analysis for a moment

Yes.

With this working method using GSC, I'm going to ask you forget about striving with your competitors for a moment.

Why?

Because there is something that's already working for you. All you have to do is locate and rinse it.

Look within!

There are articles on your blog that are already getting some traffic from some keywords. We want to be able to find these articles and their keywords. Then I will tell you what to do to get more traffic to them.

Go to your GSC account and select the property you want to optimize.

Go to Search Traffic -> Search Analytics

Now there are 2 options

1) Pick a keyword and dig through to find the web pages that keyword drives traffic to.

Make sure you check all the options as indicated above:

  • Clicks
  • Impressions
  • CTR
  • Position

Now, click the Queries option

This will give you a table with the columns: Queries, Clicks, Impressions, CTR and Position.

NB: Click the the Impressions tab to bring the query that generates the hight impressions to the top.

Important questions here:

  1. How many clicks do you get for the entry at the top?
  2. What's the CTR
  3. Which postion is the article ranking for that query

If you are ranking on a good postion and not getting an exciting number of clicks, that means you have something awesome to work on.

Now, to know the article that's ranking for that keyword, just click on the query (keyword).

Time to tweak for better ranking

Optimize for that exact query.

  • Add that query to title if not done
  • You can change the permalink if you are familiar with SEO redirects. If not, don't
  • Redo your intro and add the keywords if not done.
  • Add the keyword to the headings (<h> tag)
  • Add the keyword to image alt tags
  • Add fresh content to the post and make it longer.
  • Use LSI, related keywords
  • Do a video and add to it if possible
  • Then do some guest posting to link to that article.

NB: If you think the CTR is poor, you have to tweak the article title and meta description to make it more attractive

2) Pick a web page and pull out a list of keywords working for it

Remeber in option 1 above, we picked a keyword that drives traffic to an article. Now, we want to pic an article that receives traffic from many different keywords.

So we will now select the Pages option. See image below

Now instead of have a list of queries like in option 1 above, we will get a list of pages. You may want to sort by Clicks or Impressions to see which page does well.

To see a list of keywords that bring traffic to any page:

  1. Click the page on the table.
  2. Then go back to the header options and click Queries

That gives something like this:

You see the page under the Pages right? Selecting the Queries option will pull down the list of all queries driving traffic and impressions to the page

Here is another way to dig out the list of keywords already working for any page. In this option, you'll need to know the url in question.

Go straight to Pages -> No filter -> Filter pages

Here is what the next pop up looks like:

Select "URL is exactly" from the list and paste the url in the box. Click Filter and then select the Queries option on top.

This will also pull out the list of keywords working for the article.

What do you do with the keywords?

For articles that do well, you may have hundreds/thousands of keywords. You may want to know which of these keywords gets the highest number of clicks. On the query table, click the Clicks column to sort from the top.

To know which keyword gets the highest impressions, click the Impressions column to sort from the top.

What you should do now is to grab the keywords and tweak your article appropriately as I explained above.

Warining

Don't stuff your article with keywords.

Some keywords cannot make a constructive sentence for human readers. Know how to use them and optimize for your readers as well.

If you do this often for many of your articles, you will gradually see a remarkable boost in ranking and SEO traffic.

Tried and True

I'm getting minimal traffic at this point...like 150 page views per month. Much of it is from social media and referral...very little organic search. Is it worthwhile doing this now or should I wait until the numbers get bigger? A definition of referral traffic would help as well. 9 of my 21 articles are ranked and indexed but I don't have the full version of Jaxxy so finding them is next to impossible. I looked at the GSC last night but found no data on any pages or posts.

Hey OG,
If you already have some stats in your GSC, you can go ahead and tweak.

Referral is traffic from readers who click your link from other pages. Social traffic is classed separately though some folks may call it 'referral' as well.

If those ranked pages were already getting some impressions or clicks, GSC would report them. Did you write them with SEO and any keyword in mind?

Yes...I think I'm just confused with the GSC navigation. This is not my favorite part of internet marketing. I would much rather spend my time researching and writing interesting articles and blog posts. But then if no one can find them it defeats the purpose. SEO is very time consuming and confusing for me but a necessary evil I suppose. Thanks for the excellent training and reply.
