Starting a sports page is a challenge because, as an avid sports news consumer, I already have places to go read about my teams. Would linking that content to my site be a hind
As long as you are curating the content, aka commenting on the article you're linking to, creating a buzz on your own site, it can be useful. Just remember, however, that if people leave your site, they might not ever return.

Google actually does appreciate when you put a link from another site into yours, it aslo will help your Google ranking as well.
Writing your own post but referring for more details on certain things by putting an outside link into your post definitely is beneficial then hindering .

Hey everyone, I recently decided that my niche is going to be sports, and specifically the Miami Dolphins, but going through the training I've noticed most niches and examples
Love NBA basketball and know everything about. What would be a goof niche that would sell. Apps, Game, Books, ETC???

Miami Dolphins is not a sport though. You can concentrate on the team you support. How can you monetise this blog ?
Does their online store have an affiliate program ? Does Amazon or other places sell their products that may have affiliate programs ? Also do their ticketing agent have an affiliate program. These are just ways you can monetise it.
I think it can be a profitable niche providing you produce excellent content for your site.

I think it depends very much on how your mind works. Some people can only deal with one thing at a time whilst others are bored. There are people here who successfully started with 2, 3 or four sites! Equally there are those who are overwhelmed with one. Only you can answer that question.

Make a choice and stick to it like glue is my advice.
