More Flies with Honey than Vinegar…
One of the most important aspects of creating a successful website and online business is the ability to get people to your website (traffic) AND also the ability to keep them on your website (stick-ability) long enough for them to get YOUR message. Ultimately you want your visitors to become buyers for your product or service or be intrigued enough to return to your site again.
Recently I was reviewing a Review site for one of Wealthy Affiliate members. What struck me right from the very first sentence and paragraph was the negativity and in this case what felt like hostility (please note this is simply my opinion) that jumped off the page. The totally negative tone continued thru the whole article.
Normally if I were researching a product or program for myself, I simply would have clicked off this site immediately and continued my research elsewhere. And it made me think about the difference between a review and a hatchet job.
Do we write reviews to honestly and objectively give and opinion with the hope that it will help someone make a wise buying decision?Or is the only objective to pan another product solely to sell whatever it is that we are promoting?
The review in question sounded more like sour grapes than anything.I believe the intention was sincere (in this case) and was meant to steer someone away from the program to avoid the same bad experience this Reviewer had.
However, to get some one to hear (read your message) they have to stay on the page. I would have been long gone and never would have gotten this persons message regardless of how well intentioned.Sometimes “I can’t hear what your are saying because, OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING”
Reviews should be clean & objective, giving both pros and cons of a product or program as well as features and benefits (or lack of) in a way that makes your prospect think. Then they are more likely to trust your opinion and advice when YOU then gently but persuasively steer them in the direction you ideally want them to go, (ie: to your recommended product or program). And i believe this is very much in keeping with the Wealthy Affiliate philpsophy
Getting prospects to stay on your site, giving them value in exchange for their time there, will create a trust that will serve you well in the long run.It will help you build your business and create long term customers and clients. And that is really what it is all about!

Great blog Donna. It just goes to show you as longs as you have something that will catch someone's eye and keep them reading, negative leading to positive or positive, it keeps driving traffic to your site. Have a great day! But now I have to figure that out! Have a fabulous day!
Thanks, Donna, for highlighting an issue that is important to all of us as we create content. Keeping an overall positive tone will benefit us and our readers.
Yes, reviews should be even-handed and objective. However, I blew that rule myself the other day when I found such an obvious scam. . well, it made me sick that people would take advantage of others like this. My snark came out screaming! They should NOT take negative tones, though. I totally agree with you.
Ewww, not good Donna. Hope that person is reading this and takes the advice for what it is.......help.
Actually at the time I PM'd the member and shared a my thoughts, making it clear that this was my opinion and not a judgment, The person was very receptive to the feedback and did some revising on the review. I just felt it was worth noting in general as often reviews are misdirected.

Nice post Donna. Negative actions usually produce negative results and we don't want that in our business. Thank you, God bless.
