Prioritisation Is What I Need Right Now, How About You?
Today, I will talk about Prioritisation. I think this is what I need right now because I have been busy doing a lot of things lately.
I was not able to prioritise effectively to the extent that I got too overwhelmed and felt stressed and exhausted. Although I was able to manage it, my time management is a bit poorly because I have to resort to taking overtime because I want to get things done right away to avoid delay. This is what I usually do because of my busy work schedules at home and at my part-time work.
Partly it's my fault because I always resort to working things out at the last minute although I have plenty of time to do it in the first place. I tend to procrastinate a lot and this is the thing that I wanted to take out of my system.
How to do it besides changing my mindset? How can I effectively make use of my time or how can I manage my time wisely? The answer is Prioritisation.
Prioritisation is the essential skill that I need to make the very best use of my own efforts and those of my team at work. It's also a skill that I need to create calmness and space in my life so that I can focus my energy and attention on the things that really matter. ( Credits: www.mindtools.com )
One essential key is to make a to-do-list.
This is a list of things that I need to do in order of priority which I could classify as Urgent, Important, Less Important. This is what I'm planning to do now with my website. I need to do the urgent task first before I go to the important and less important ones. In this case, I don't need to rush to do things immediately whichever comes to my mind first without prioritising it. After completing a task, I need to tick the box so that I know that it's been done and don't have to come back into it unless it needs updating in which case, I need to put a note beside it. Those things I haven't fully accomplished will remain untick unless I fully accomplished it. This is just a simple method of how to prioritise.
If you want to learn more about Prioritisation, I come across with this Online Topic by Mind Tools which I think might be beneficial to you on how to prioritise effectively and make use of your time wisely. And if you have a Personal Development or a Leadership and Management Niche Website, this might also come in handy.

Great stuff, Adel, thanks. I think I would consider myself an expert on procrastination, just based on experience. :-)

I think we are all guilty of procrastination from time to time. It will only become a problem if it becomes habitual. Do you agree? Thank you, Wayne, for dropping by and commenting. Have a productive day/evening! :)
That sounds like a good way to take care of it and it just miight keep you from getting too stressed out.

Time management is essential as we are wasting too much overthinking certain issues which can be either personal or issues that may arise at your job or in business. Successful people create a strict schedule or routine. This starts e.g getting up making a cup of coffee, getting the kids ready for school and then take the dogs for a walk(the latter is my case). We all have a tendency to procrastinate and that is just part of human behavior. Creating a time management schedule is key.
I totally agree that Time Management is the essence of success and that Procrastination is the enemy in which I am guilty of. Thank you, Paul, for commenting. Have a nice day! :)
Time Management and Prioritising the work schedule is important.
I use a software who monitors my work on the computer and I have tasks I just don't feel doing as they take up to much time so I actually outsource them. Otherwise, I would not be able to do all the things I set as goals for myself.
That's good idea, Sylvia. You mange your time and work wisely. Keep up the good work. Have a productive day! :)
Hi Adel,
I can really relate to your post. I have a really hard time determining which of the things I need to do that should have a high priority. Well, not all of them some are pretty obvious and you can easily determine the priority. However, when there is a bunch of things that all seem very important to me that's when I get into trouble and don't know how to set the priorities.
That was one good thing about my job, whenever I would get hit with a bunch of requests at the same time I just would tell him that and he would meet with me right then and there to give these tasks priorities. But now that I m my own boss I don't have anyone to go to sometimes to determine a priority. But this and my total lack of organizational skills sometimes make things harder than they are.
Thanks very much for your reference to mind tools I will look into that right away.
Thanks again,
Barbara
Sometimes it's really hard to prioritise especially if all the things or tasks that you have to do seem all important. It's really quite overwhelming. Anyway, we have to set our priorities right so as not to get into trouble in the end. I'm glad you find the link that I posted here to be useful. Please feel free to check it out once you get the time. It helps me a lot with my organisational skills in my part-time job.
All the best! :)
Hi Adel,
It sounds like we have the exact same problems- priorities combined with a lack of organizational skill, though I'm not sure you have the problem with a lack of organization that I do - my organizational skills are really non-existent. combine that with a bunch of important things coming at me all at once - it sometimes seems impossible. Do you have the priorities problem with your job or what you want to do with your website?
Thanks,
Barbar
It's a mixture because I'm torn between the two. My organisational skills are quite good in my day job but have problems with prioritising on what to do with my website lately. I am now trying to do things one thing at a time so as not to be overwhelmed. Thank you, Barbara. :)
It's a key factor to success. Otherwise we can spend top much time social networking! Lol. Great post. Thanks. Debbie
I'm a list maker. This helps a lot for me but recently I've learnt it's the things I don't put on my list that are the most distracting. Best example: my phone... I check it once or twice a day now and don't get distracted by friends who want conversation.
Good on you. Your self-control and discipline is most important. Keep it up! Thank you for your comment. :)

I also stick to a to-do-list. It helps me organizing my work and my head. As I am easily forgetting things this helps me in my every day work.
Have a great day.
Mia.
That's great Mia. It is indeed helpful tool. Sticking with your to-do-list will help you progress in your business. Have a productive day! :)
Thank you. Same for you :)
