Google+ April is The End!
Its actually Official and there have been a lot of posts about this, but now Google, is to close Google+ in April
Personally, I will be sad to see it go, for many different reasons, not least of which it had a lot of features other social networks didn't have, well in truth it had the best features of a lot of social networks in one place
However, because it was, like a lot of things online, misunderstood, under rated and very underused, as well as competing heavily against Facebook, it in reality, probably never stood much of a chance : (
From a bloggers and writers point of view, it was a massive help with blogs and our blogging.
As long you understood the rules ( no raw affiliate links) and worked with them ( masking your affiliate links) then it would have served you pretty well it has to be said
After all, it was a network linked to the Worlds First & Largest search Engine.
But from April it will no longer be.
"But hang on though, April?... I read somewhere that it was closing in the summer, sop how come its now April" you might well be asking
Well the truth is, according some well placed sources, is that possibly un beknown to us, Google has suffered a 2nd Data Breach, which happened in December 2018 and this data breach has resulted in the close down being brought forward
Officially Google has always maintained "low user engagement & activity" with around 90% of users sessions lasting 5 seconds, yes thats right 5 Seconds, but I suspect that a lot of this came down to the fact that people didn't want to investigate & find out how Google could help them
I mean, Google! ... Everything major revolves around it, Mail, Docs, Mapping and so much more, that surely the social network could have survived.
So there you have it, now is the time to adjust any social media platforms and blogs which show your G+ Profile.

It is a shame Google Plus is closing. People have been asking if there is something to replace it, but I haven't seen anything.
It is kind of sad, mainly because of the "rank boost" we were supposedly receiving when linking our articles. I wonder if there is something else in the works by Google...
Plenty of other options available in Google Denis, Maps for one, I keep getting asked to review places I have been too the moment I leave them
Your own blog !!
I think everyone who has used this platform knows that the only reason Google Plus was loved at all, was because it was Google's social media and was perfect for additional traffic.
Other than that, it was a poorly designed social media platform at best.
Proof is in the pudding. Google Plus is closing because it failed to become a social hub. When compared with other social media options, you don't think of Google+ when you think about a good social media platform.
Great post Dave, and Thanks for this official information.
An excellent telling line you made".....I suspect that a lot of this came down to the fact that people didn't want to investigate & find out how Google could help them"
Google+ failed socially, because Google knows too much!

Thanks for the response Kaju, interessting take on it and potentially a conspiracy theory in waiting ( but don't start me off on that track!"!)
