It is preferred before uploading images to your articles, you check their size and make it less than 100KB each. If they are bigger, you can compress then using tinypng.com
Add to that, you might use an image optimization like Kraken.io or Ewww. If you host your website on WA, the default will be Kraken, otherwise, you need to install it.
Last step to take is that you use the Lazy Load By WP Rocket Plugin which will prioritize loading the text and make loading images a second priority.
Also, having many plugins, Javascrips and CSS codes can slow down your website, try to use them only when necessary.
I hope that helps!

is it normal to not make a sale for the first year you are doing this?
Dave,
You have been here since Dec 2019. Stick to the training and while you are doing the training write as many posts as possible per week. There are many factors that determine the time for the first sale. Niche, post keywords, affiliate links (what you are selling). Patients is a virtue. It will come. Be consistent in your post. Google looks at that for ranking along with other factors you will learn in the training. The person who posts once bi-monthly will generally have a harder time getting ranked than the person that posts once every week.
.
Try this. Write 3 posts per week for the next 8 weeks and publish 1 per week. In 8 weeks you will have written 24 posts and published 8. That leaves 16 un-published. Relax a little(not really). For the next 8 weeks write 3 per week and publish 2 per week. You will now have published a total of 24 and have 24 unpublished. Now keep writing but now publish 3 per week for the next 8 weeks. You now have 48 published plus the number written during this 8 week period ready to go. You will be ahead of the pack and writing will be much easier.
The only way to $ucceed is to NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP.
Blessings,
Leo
I have asked and research on this. Diane statement is accurate.
You need to have enough content (40 articles) before you can get ranked.
You website needs to have an authority. This means you need to be at least 6 months before Google really direct traffic to you.
I started to write content last year November and I am starting to see some though not a lot of traffic.
If you need help on getting Google index and ranking goto my profile for blogs I have written on this topic.
Have a great day.
Marc
No necessarily 40 articls, my first article that made it to page 1 and got me a sale was when I had around 13 articles and less than 3 months in the internet marketing niche.. Lots of it depends on the keyword itself and the competition.
It will happen. Check which articles started getting traffic and put clear call to actions on those driving either to a product through the affiliate link or to another article /review that has affiliate link.

I really hope that I will not lose more than month or two for the first sale. Maybe a little too optimistic??
Yes, a bit. It took me 7 months since I started my current website to make my first sale. Besides, you are not losing the months, when you are consistently building your website and the foundations necessary for your future success.
Honestly, I hope WA can help speed this process along. I’m not sure that I’m ready for that long of a start. How long have you been working at Affiliate marketing.?
Nina, it may not take you that long, but realistically any business you start--internet or brick and mortar typically show losses for the first year, some even longer. You must build a strong foundation if you want to have a business that can survive change--which is constant everywhere.
Hi - not necessarily a year, but realistically not before 6 months. This is because Google views all new sites with suspicion and won't rank you highly to start with.
The key is to add lots of content on a regular basis to attract Google's attention. Aim for at least 2 or 3 posts per week of at least 1000 words.
Make sure you have a mix of purely informational pages with no promotions and other posts where you will be adding affiliate links. Ensure everything is original and is in your own words.

my site is up and running for about a month.
its been indexed a while ago but still not ranked what can i do?
Patience, seo takes 3-5 months (depending on the competition) before anything gets to page one on Google provided that you keep creating quality content.

are there any plugins that enable you to change the background color of the text
Hi Dave,
You need to go in your website, to click customize and scroll down till general. Click on that and go to body. And from there you can change the colour.
I hope this will help.
Diana
I'm sure there might be, but I'm not knowledgeable at the moment, but i'm going to see what you find out and capture a possible learning moment, Dave!
