Do I Know You? The Social Sharing Project!
Heya folks,
I would like to start off by saying even though I worked in IT and love almost everything Computer related, the one spot I never had much interest in was Social Media and Social Networking (other than Linkedin for finding a Job.) I guess I am just kind of a withdrawn type of guy when it comes to the Social type of websites and participating. As you may already know, being this way is not good for business! You need to get your name out there, your website name out there or even a product out there into other people's eyes, I'm sure you see where I am going with this.
Being Socially connected with these sites is an invaluable tool that will expand your business just as good as any other means that you may already be working on. Sure you can be the best writer in the world but if no one ever reads your stuff, then who will ever know? Content is King as long as someone else see's it, eh? Am I right?
Any who.....
Over the last month I have been working in more and more social activity and I think that I am getting better at it, well everything but Pinterest so far (that damn site still confuses me) lol. Anyway, like I said I have been working on gaining more and more followers and there are little tricks all over the web that can help you to accomplish this.
(Once I am here for three months and I am able to add my own learning content I will walk folks through those processes)
Well to get to the point, I have some links to share with you so that you can connect with me on various social sites if you would like, don't feel forced now I am just offering you the ability to connect with me (Guess I am in a silly mood today, so let me apologize, lol)
Without Further Ado
(yeah I had to look this one up it's ado over adieu, I need my wife to spell and grammar check me sometimes I admit it :P)

Hi Damon I too am not good at social interactions and hide behind the computer unfortunately. This is due to my Deafness and the lack of confidence that I can interact socially in the hearing world. I have a great 'think outside the box' mind but struggle to engage with people. So I would love to join your facebook group and hope to meet others through it. PS you don't ramble :)
following you on Twitter on G+ too but I'm not that active there. Going to join your facebook group too. Thanks
I will take you up on your offer.. I'm not social either, and my accounts are pretty sad and pathetic..
Hello Damon, you have to change something in your account, I can not get friends with you on facebook, you have to set who can connect with you on "everybody" or something
Thank you for the important blog ,the social media is nice when you use it for your business ,but do not let it use your time .I followed you where I am active but Pinterest is my favorite
Damon: I was a programmer for over 20 years, using RPGII, Assembler and COBOL(on an IBM 370 OS), C, C++, Forte, SqlWindows and the 8088 family for Assembler language.
I've followed you on all of your social medias. I still don't know a lot about social media and only use facebook to keep up with my relatives. I'm just beginning to understand that people actually spend time reading this stuff.
Good luck with WA.
Hi Daniel:
If you mean now, I'd go for Internet languages such as:
1. Java
2. JavaScript
3. Ruby
4. HTML/PHP
5. Python
6. SQL(not really a programming language, but for database interrogation, you can't beat it)
There are those who say that C is a foundation language for all others, but I'm not sure it's worth learning. I'm sure some websites also use C++, C#, and Objective C too.
To get the biggest bang for your buck, I'd go with Java. You will have to know SQL no matter which programming language you choose.
Yeah, I didn't start learning C until the mid 80's. I hope you are feeling better now.
By the way, I forgot to mention the PDP 1170 and the VAX 750 systems I used to work with as a civilian in the navy. Those were old hat even back in the late 80's and early 90's, when I worked there. I was the project manager, but my team programmed in Fortran. I learned primitive BASIC in school but never used it in a work situation.
I can remember PC DOS(before MS DOS) and all the graphics you could create for games in BASIC.
I'm not usually so long-winded! Best of luck here at WA.
