Am I Really Who I Say I Am? Check This Out. Very Important
Well Gang. Some of you know me and many of the new members dont have a clue who I am. I just want to give everyone a little break down of where I have been. But really is it me or is it someone else.
Two words: IDENTITY THEFT
Last couple months I have been dealing with pure 100% no holds barred identity theft.
Im not going to get into all the details because really I would be writing for days.
However it really is a devastating crime. Everything from loans, credit cards to even a library card on my name made by someone else.
This person eventually got in and cleaned out all my bank accounts, maxed out 1000s and 1000s in credit cards. 1000s in loans online and of course the wolves started knocking on my door.
Innocent until proven guilty is not the case in identity theft. 100% guilty until proven innocent.
All in all things are going a bit better now that the person was stopped. Not caught but stopped for the simple reality that I am also stopped.
For the money taken from my bank account yep there is insurance. The money used on my credit cards of course I dont have to pay back. However I was left with no credit cards and believe me getting one know sucks because every transaction I have to prove its me.
My passport was frozen and cancelled and now that is my next venture. The sharks for the online loans are still trying to say the loans are my responsibility even though I have a letter from the crown acknoledging who I am and what happend.
Every loan I apply for from this day forward I have to prove who i am because my name is flagged in the system.
So between dealing with this and being scared to even be online that is where I have been.
I feel lijke a prisoner in my own life.
I may get the energy one day to write a very long post with more details.
So thanks for listening. I hope everyone here is doing great and i think Im close to coming back.

Dale, I just hope you get as close to a full recovery as possible. Even if all of your resources were replaced, they have left a scar on your psyche that could take much longer to heal. I hope you won't lose faith in mankind. Some humans do indeed suck. Stay strong!
So sorry to hear that has happened to you. That is just awful. I hope you get it all straightened out soon.
What a terrible thing to happen to you! I do hope you get things sorted out soon and can go forward with a minimum of difficulty. Hoping you got it taken care of.
Sorry to hear this Dale. I know Identity theft is a real problem today but you are the first I know that has had to deal with it. Hoping and praying for you to get past this.

I completely understand. While my identity theft did happen enough to cause havoc. I realized as they were stupid to put or someone it happened I got a letter thanking me for signing up for a brokerage. I called them and after proving who I was canceled of course. My next course of action was checking my bank accounts and putting a notice there and changed to new credit cards.
Then I called my brokerage and put a fraud alert there as well as 3 main credit reporting agencies. Still they tried to do more credit agencies, but I also found out they had my drivers license. Problem solved got a new one different number.
Funny part I received a $40 check from one which they deposited into and I canceled. It was made out to me, so I cashed it and used it for fees I paid to credit agencies..
I lucked out in some way, but it caused me to be more cautious and understanding to others in that situation.
Glad its finally working out for you, and welcome back.
Oh my goodness, I can not even begin to imagine what this must have been like, what an absolute nightmare! Do you know what triggered this whole thing off, did you do something that made you vulnerable or is just the luck of the draw?
To this day they dont know . So yes likely just luck of the draw. I learned that there are thousands of these kinds of cases. These people on the other end are very smart and good at what they do.
Wow that's scary... I guess all it takes is for someone to get into your computer and they've got everything - PayPal, bank accounts, passwords, the lot!
All I can say is I'm glad you're through the other side. I don't know what niches you're in but you could turn this round to your advantage by writing about how to protect yourself from this and some of the measures or services you could use to protect yourself.

Good Morning Dale,
What an awful experience. I am glad that slowly but surely you can get it all solved but it will be a lasting memory.
It happened once to me too but not as bad as in your case. On the internet I found out I was the owner of a transport company, they used my name and address. I went to the police as I did not know what was being transported under my name, drugs, human trafficking? This is a strange world and one has to be very careful.
