The power of friendship
The world faces numerous challenges, including poverty, violence, and human rights abuses, all of which threaten peace, security, and social harmony.
To address these crises, we must promote a human spirit of solidarity. None is more powerful (it could be argued) than friendship.
By fostering strong bonds and trust, we can drive essential changes for lasting stability, create a net of safety and social cohesion, and hope to inspire everyone to work towards a better world for all.
July 28 marks the International Day of Friendship, proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendships can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.
You can find out more about this international day that fosters solidarity, communication, mutual understanding and reconciliation.
