SEO Isn't Dead.
With the advancements in AI, many people have been worried that "SEO is dead".
They're worried that no one will use search engines because AI can just provide the answers.
But, remember... We never always went to Google to ask questions.
In fact, it was only around 2013 onwards when people started to get conversational with Google.
But even before we asked Google questions, it still had a purpose.
And that's because for most people, it essentially acts as the gateway to the internet.
I'll give you an example.
If I go to ChatGPT & type Facebook, it gives me this:
But if I go to Google & type Facebook, it gives me this:
Do you see the difference?
Google knows my intent. It knows that if I type that, I just want to visit Facebook.
And this is something that Google absolutely excels at. They have tons & tons of data about user intent... And when it comes to search, that is MUCH more important than a "good answer".
So, if you're feeling worried about AI & SEO, hopefully this sets your mind at ease.
Google & ChatGPT are two totally different products. They may seem like they compete, but as far as I'm concerned, they merely complement each other.
I don't ever expect to find myself heading to ChatGPT & typing "pizza" when I'm hungry.
Do you?

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. It seems that Google and ChatGPT may be having it out with new Google Gemini. I just read an interesting post here: Google Search is about to undergo the biggest Shift/change in its entire History! Changes, they are coming...

Thanks Dale and thank you Abie for sending link to here.
Hey Dale, I just posed the question to WA about this very topic. I’m just getting started so it was concerning me.
Yes it did, thanks Dale. I’m going to keep learning and writing, being on the lookout for what’s ahead.
And Google and Gemini and their generative AI integration have two separate roles. People are still going to perform research, hence the ability to search. We are not always 'happy' with a generative response, and the fact that we have to just "believe that is the proper response".
People like choice, they like the speed of search, and that is why search also won't go away...it may just look different, and feel different. If there isn't a benefit of creating content, people won't...and platforms like Google won't have fresh, new, authentic, helpful, or engaging content to rely on.

Good morning Dale,
Thank you for the interesting blog post, Dale.
I have just been reading Brian's post about Google search, which makes for interesting reading. Google Search is about to undergo the biggest Shift/change in its entire History! I hear exactly where you're coming from; certainly, if we are purchasing an item or require a service, then we will still need Google search. I don't know how much things will change for general information, I guess time will tell.
Have a fantastic day.
Roy
For me, I'll always want both. I have both Google & ChatGPT open at all times.
I understand where you're coming from, Dale.
Have a great weekend.
