Dance In The Rain

When I Saw This Quote, I Was Reminded Of a Time a Couple Of Years Ago...

I Was Out On My Regular 4-Mile Walk Around the River, When the Sky Just Opened Up and Let Loose With a Huge Thunderstorm.

I Happened To Be On a Leg Of My Walk Where There Is Really No Shelter From the Elements, and I Quickly Became Drenched To the Skin.

Being As It Was Mid-July, However, The Rain Was Not a Cold Rain, and Though I Was Wet, I Didn't Feel At All Uncomfortable.

As I Continued Walking Along, I Noticed That Many Of My Neighbors' Morning Newspapers Were Lying In Their Yards, and Although They Were In Plastic Bags, The Rain Was Such That the Newspapers Inside Would Most Likely Become a Soggy Mess Before Long.

I Impulsively Began Grabbing the Newspapers As I Ran Across Them, Tossing Them Up Onto Front Porches, Where They Would Stay Dry and Readable.

I Continued My Walk In This Fashion, Stooping To Retrieve and "Rescue" Each Paper I Encountered On the Last Quarter Mile Stretch Of My Walk, Probably 25 Or 30 Papers In All.

Many Of the Yards On the River Side Of the Street, Where I Was Walking, Were Already Beginning To Accumulate Water.

When I Got Home and Began To Strip Off My Drenched Clothing In Preparation For a Hot Shower, I Discovered That My Prescription Sunglasses, Which I Had Tucked Into the Neck Of My Shirt When the Rain Began, Were Gone!

I Surmised That They Had Fallen During One Of the Times I Bent To Grab a Newspaper.

I Just Smiled, and Shook My Head.

Good Deeds Are Not Always Rewarded, but Then, Are They Not Rewards, In and Of Themselves?

I Didn't Actually Make a Decision To Dance In the Rain, As I Had No Choice, What With the Suddenness Of Florida Storms, but I Had Made the Best Of the Situation, and That Was Good Enough For Me

Hi Rick, loved your out look on life no matter what is thrown at you. Irv.

I appreciate it, Irv!

Love the good deed story, despite the personal loss. Has an unexpected reward come your way since this incidence?
Just curious

Sharon

I'm grateful for the many rewards that come my way, Sharon, big and small. :)

A wonderful way to look at life. Thanks Rick. Most enjoyable :)

Thanks so much, Valerie. :)

Some great wisdom there, Rick........
Like all quotes by Churchill, that one's grand.......

Thanks, Therese! :)

Now that was an inspiring post! I better love the rain living in WA state, but we don't have those down pours very often.

We get a heavy rain, and then it's over. Or, it might rain here, but not a couple miles down the road. Thanks for your comments, Anne! :)

When I was a little girl I used to dance in the rain. Now I get s sinus headache in it. Lol.

I know you wish you could still dance in it, Jeannie. I'd try it every now and then, just to see. :)

I like to dance anywhere. :)

You're awesome! :)

Very impressive! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Luna! :)

One good deed deserves another & I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get your sunnies back. Just retrace you steps :)

Well, it's been a couple years now, Linda. I suspect someone with a greater need for them is enjoying their use, and that's fine! I've got another pair. :)

Boy rick you are popping them just before midnite EDT. it is raining outside and has been all day even as I answer your post.

Did you dance, Mike?

Only to keep from getting swamped.
