FIRST PAGE Ranking at No. 6 on GOOGLE - Explanation Please?

One of my posts "Introduction to Healing with Meditation" is ranking no. 6 on Google (I checked it incognito this time!).

But I have a question. My keyword is "healing with meditation." WA Keyword Tool has it a 445 and QSR of 144.

Keyword tool has "Introduction to Healing with Meditation" as less than 10. If I Google Healing with Meditation (the actual keyword) I don't know where I rank. I quit looking at page 10.

I think there is a lesson here, but I don't know what that is. If my actual keyword is less than 10, but the title of my post is ranking on the first page, what is the benefit of this if an unsearched title ranks but the keyword doesn't? If I would have used the keyword as my title I wouldn't be ranking at all. Is this ranking useless?

..........or does this fall into the "Magic Unicorn Tears" category that Jay established a few weeks ago?

Excited but confused.....

Carole

Well obviously you did something right, so keep it up young lady.

That sounds good Carole, well done.

Greetings from Alicante, also south but 500 km away from home.

Taetske

well done and congrats

Thank you.

Something's working.

Yes. And with Carson's explanation and advice below I just have some work to do. I have already made my list. I've also discovered that my "competitors" are Webmd, Huffington, Harvard, etc. (with several of my titles) so that spooks me. But apparenty my research is good, I hope.

Thanks

well done

Thanks, Abdul.

Congratulations....

Thanks. More work to do!!

Thanks for posting, I agree it can get confusing.

It's great that Carson explained how it works!

I agree about those pop up sign-ups. I don't like them, I usually leave the site when their right there in front. I have a Subscriber sign up on my side bar, it's always visible there, and not in the way.

The pop is about 45 seconds in but I do the same thing!!! I had to put something in quick to capture subscribers (someone put the fear in me) and I did gather a few people. But Carson is right, I don't have enough traffic to warrant it. Someone recently commented that I should put one at the bottom of the page but I haven't had a chance to do that. It's on the list!!!

It was so cool Carson stepped in. I've never heard from him before (not long ago I was wondering if he really existed. LOL!! I know he's the man with the plan!). His only critique was the pop up so I take that as a compliment!!

I see Carson make the rare Cameo appearance. Kyle I noticed around more lately and it's great because they are so busy.

If you put a subscriber sign up form at the bottom of the page it's too far, visitors may not get that far.
Placing it on your side bar is visible right away and more visitors would be prone to sign up. It's more convenient.

If you want to check out mine to see what it looks like go to my profile and scroll down on the right hand side you'll see my website. We aren't suppose to leave our website URLs here unless it's for training.

I don't have traffic yet, my website is still new but I added the sign up form this early just to have it ready.

I will take a look. Thanks!!

Thank you for the question, Carole

Hey Carole,

When you choose your titles and target keywords you have a very good chance of ranking for any combinations of the words. The more Broad phrase in your Title is "Healing with Meditation" and it may take some time or some comments etc to rank for that more competitive keyword. The fact is that you're ranking for "introduction to healing with meditation".

Get some comments and engagement, update your content frequently and if you've targeted the keyword within your content then you will likely see yourself pop into the rankings for "healing with meditation" as well.

Keep in mind that Google doesn't rank a page or post for EVERY keyword right off the bat, they crawl your page frequently and as it's updated they will decide to rank you for more broad and popular keywords.

Thati is the explanation I was looking for. Thank you, Carson. Sometimes it is hard to remember that tomorrow is another day in this business.

Lesson learned.

The problem is most people will type the shorter term or some shorter permutation in search i.e. "healing with meditation", or "meditation to healing" and then the page won't be found, at least until more comments and engagement are built over time.

I have the same problem with some of my keywords. It can be frustrating.

Yes, tomorrow is your opportunity to build on "Today" and that's how we incrementally build AMAZING (and sustainable) businesses :)

Keep pushing because you're ranking and being noticed by Google with your website.

One suggestion I have with your site is related to the pop-up sign-up form. You may want to see how your engagement is by removing that for the time being.

Or, if you can change the color of the "X" to close it you may keep people on your website longer. I had a hard time seeing the white X to close the pop-up.

Until you are ranking and getting consistent traffic to your website, a pop-up like this ads a level of complexity to your "process"...just some food for thought.

Thanks Carson, You are right. I just added that Sign Up form a few weeks ago, and it is causing me more problems than it is worth.

My desktop site speed went down from 92 to 85 because of it. That's why I asked the question to the community recently of how much site speed affects your ranking.

My mobile speed is abyssmal (68) and I am trying to correct this without much success. Wix tech support tells me I need to remove the animations from the homepage in mobile view; I tried doing this and it didn't help.

That will be a easy one. Any other suggestions??? Feedback from the Top Dog is priceless.

Thank you.

Website loading speeds affect the user experience, so you definitely want to have your website loading as quickly as possible. Ideally you want to be able to have a website like WordPress loading very quickly, and for that you definitely want to look to serving static content by implementing caching mechanisms and optimizations. Our new SiteSpeed infrastructure is delivering very fast speeds of high 90's in Google PageSpeed Insights for those who have it installed.

Maybe migrating from Wix to WordPress is something to consider.
