Do you go back to websites to see the answer to the question you asked?

I remember in one of Kyle's training, he suggested when it came to comments on sites, that asking questions was good.

I like to ask questions, and also have people ask me questions on my site.

But my pondering today is this: If you ask a question, do you make it a habit to go back and find the answer, then leave another reply?

I have added this into my list of things that are important in my daily tasks. If I am going to make the effort to post a comment on someones site and ask a question, then I am going to make the effort to go back there and reply to their answer.

Many times I have seen questions answered that have been asked, only to be left wanting for further conversation. This smacks of lack of interest to me. I for one would like my time to go to good use, so if it means I ask a question, then I will go back and check out the reply I got, and leave another comment.

Surely this must be good for our sites?

Enjoy what is left of the weekend. Here in Australia, Sunday afternoon is upon us, and Monday morning fast approaching!!!

Later my friends.

I always go back to sites if I've asked a question and follow up.

I always follow up the comments I gave, but my experience is when I send out a new question on my own website comments, people are not returning, so I stopped asking questions there

Exactly what I have found too, perhaps I will follow your lead on that.

I have the plugin Anthrovol mentions for people visiting my site.
For sites I visit, I have a bookmark folder "to be checked" so I remember to go back and check for answers on any questions I've asked.

It's probably not a good idea to send out emails unless they have opted in for that. I use a plug-in called "Send email only on Reply to My Comment" which allows that opt-in. Unfortunately the comment system at WA plugs directly into the database and bypasses that opt-in.

Mostly I just keep record of where I have been and go back, or if it is via the WA website feedback, I go there and revisit, its so easy.

I must admit I am guilty of not going back to check up on it, not because I am not interested in it, but because it seems such a hassle to find them all again.
It would have been great if we could receive a notification of sorts via email if and when there was a response to our comments.
Thanks for the reminder. I must make a plan to follow up on those.

I mostly just go back to the WA feedback/comments area which is where I do most of mine from anyway, look up what I have done that has been approved, then revisit from there. Nice and easy.

Ah, yes of course.
Thanks for reminding me Cindy.
Have a great week.

Exactly. There's only so much time in the day. If we don't get back to it the comment and answer will help someone else, which is largely the point of the comment system, I'm thinking. -Alexx

I agree with SaraAnt...

And to answer the question... If I have asked a question and I think it will get a reply to which I can help build a further conversation then yes I try to go back... You can tell when your comment has been approved if using SiteComments or if I do a comment directly on someone's site, I ask them to let me know when they have responded.

Cool, same here, that's what I do too. :)

You can add an email notification plugin on your site. So that they can request email responses to their questions. This would not work on the SiteComments system though. You could email as Marion said or potentially you could also PM them through WA. I hadn't thought of using the email. Might be easier than finding them on here if their gravatar is not the same as their profile name on here!

When someone leaves a comment they leave their email address. As webmasters we should send an email to each person who leaves a comment and let them know it's been answered. I don't mean that we should start sending spam or anything else, just let them know we've answered their question or replied to their comment. DO NOT add their email addresses to your 'list'. That's not what it's about. ~Marion

Great answer to a great question I shall start doing this from now on ! Thanks ladies ;)

I agree. I also don't have a 'list' yet anyway!!!!! Definitely not what it is about, more about people having a complete looking website with answers to things and conversation happening.

Great question
