Radio Ads

Radio Ads are an intrusive form of advertising, as it forces its way into the listeners mind.

It also has a tremendous reach and penetration into the market.

Radios are everywhere, in cars, in homes, in the garage, in workplaces, and even on the beach or while out jogging.

Radio Ads can inform, educate, entertain and get attention.

They can also be targeted to specific audiences quite easily.

Radio helps to keep your business in front of your customer's mind, so that they don't forget you.

One of the greatest strengths of radio, is that it can create "theatre of the mind", as it causes listeners to produce images in their minds based on what they are hearing.

I listen to the local radio station quite a lot in the mornings. I get the BBC news through them. There are quite a number of ads and some are definitely effective.

Here's my contribution to the survey, Chrystopher

I know that radio ads have been around forever, so this should be an interesting survey.

Thank you Isaiah, really appreciated :-)

I haven't used radio ads but in the past I have considered it. They are still effective despite the fact that nowadays most people can plug their phone or ipod into the car's entertainment system.

It is important to target your market. I don't know how many people still depend on the radio to listen to music but since stations still broadcast all types of music it's probably more than you would think

Sports talk shows and conservative commentary shows are popular. If I were to use radio ads I would want them to air during drive times when people are driving to and from work. I don't thing many people still listen to the radio unless they are driving. Too many other options.

It's been years since I looked into it but radio advertising was surprisingly affordable. I'm sure it's higher now but probably still affordable. Stations charge according to their listener ratings. When I looked into it I was looking to advertise on the most popular country music station so they were surely more expensive than a less listened to station.

Also before deciding look at the stations broadcast wattage. A 1000 watt station may only reach within a few miles of the tower while a 50,000 watt station could be heard for 100 miles. That's for FM stations. There are clear channel 50,000 watt AM stations that can be heard for thousands of miles. Once I listened to a football game broadcast on a New Orleans station while I was in Colorado.
